    Disco 2 Shock absorbers.

Agreed - they had somewhat of a reputation with some models being prone to rust (the AlfaSud too) but they're certainly not in a league of their own when it comes to corrosion. Truth be told however, Italy managed to keep its motor industry relatively intact and still produce some of the most...

Disco 2 How do I fit Bosch wipers, FFS?!

I have Bosch 807A (530mm) installed on standard wiper arms, where they simply lock in as shown in this video -

Disco 2 D2 Brake hard line and fittings size?

You will need a roll of 25ft (7.6m) copper nickel (90/10) tubing to replace all the brake lines. Diameter is 3/16". As for the fittings, these are M10 x 1mm IIRC.

    Disco 2 Coolant loss.

Coolant is probably evaporating before reaching the desired temp. You should start by sealing the system with a good quality reservoir cap. The temp gauge is not a precision instrument so it will show normal operating temps when they're actually lower.

Discovery TD5 10p Running Rough, now won’t start at all

As mentioned, plenty of information out there. If you plan on replacing the injector seals, here's a good guide - I would also check the ECU plugs and injector loom for oil contamination - Did you manage to pull any error codes with the OBD reader ?

Disco 3 (LR3) Disco 3 Super low prices

Granted - reliability is inversely proportional to complexity - at least that's the theory. And if I'm living somewhere on the Caucasus mountains, I'd probably would want a TDI (or perhaps a mule :)). But one has to give credit where credit is due. The TD5 was a brand new design and did not have...

Now that's not a fair statement for the TD5 :(

Disco 2 A guessing game. UPDATE

That's the one I used when I changed mine. It took a few tries and you need to be very quick as the bearing steel expands quickly once it comes into contact with the heated housing. I'd say SKF is a must for this application. If you don't have play, I don't see why you can't keep using your...

Disco 2 New Coolant - Few Questions

100% - it takes about 2 hours for distilled water to absorb all the carbon dioxide it can from the atmosphere and achieve its final pH. Corrosion or metal leaching are not uncommon especially with water of high purity. With stainless steel, this is very low but if not acceptable, synthetic...

Disco 2 New Coolant - Few Questions

Sure Stan Besides the lack of minerals and other impurities, what makes distilled and de-ionised water different from tap water is the low concentration of ions, precisely because distilled and DI water is purified. It is worth noting that these ions come from dissolved salts and inorganic...

Disco 2 New Coolant - Few Questions

Not familiar with the quality of Australia's tap water but distilled water is generally not a good idea for cooling systems. Soft water is your best option here.

As a last resort, I'd strip it down and fill it with water to check if there's a broken seal or even a cracked surface.

Disco 2 A guessing game. UPDATE

It's an easy enough job and it always helps if you have a press should you need to replace the bearing. What is really important is to collect all the hardware (bolts, spacers, washers, etc.) and note their location as it's a nightmare to source separately.

Disco 2 A guessing game. UPDATE

I'm afraid spraying the compressor pulley won't help either. But you can work on the clutch, bearing, etc with the compressor in situ, provided that you have the right tools. This is a good instruction video of a clutch and bearing disassembly on a compressor similar to the one installed on the...

Disco 2 A guessing game. UPDATE

Applying spray to the pulley does nothing as the bearings are sealed except that it could contaminate and slip the belt. Use a pick and hook set, remove the protective ring covers and apply some bearing grease on both sides. It will be as good as new if the bearings are not worn. BTW, that is...

Disco 2 Knocking from rear drivers side?

Those are typical symptoms of the Watts linkage on its way out. Try rocking the vehicle vertically and sideways by pressing on the rear bumper and you can usually hear the knocking if you have excessive wear and tear on the linkage.

D2 Td5 POOR STARTING AFTER FUEL FILTER CHANGE

There are many reports on this forum re. issues with the NRV and how to replace. Here's one - https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/non-return-valve-replace.362397/ If a new filter does not help, that would be my next step. If it looks the worse for wear, I'd consider changing the entire...
