    Front Wheel Bearing Lock Nut

I wasn't suggesting splitting it, just knocking it off with a hammer and chisel! Hit the corner at a tangent and it will come off. I did this for years before I got round to buying the correct box spanner...

    Front Wheel Bearing Lock Nut

Might just be tight - silly question, you are turning it anticlockwise? they aren't handed. The get-out-of -jail method is to take a sharp cold chisel, place it on the corner of the nut at an angle and hit it with a big hammer. It might bugger the locknut but it should shock it off.

    Dreaded porridge!

Mayo in the rockers isn't unusual in an engine only used for short runs. Get it good and hot and see if it disappears. This may be the week to do it!

Brown wires are live - someone's just picked up a convenient live feed from the flasher. The horn should be fed from the battery side of fuse 1.

Check you've got the right connections on the relay - there are wiring diagrams on this site. Is the relay clicking when you try turn the lights on? Is the relay coil fed from a switched feed (normally the headlight feed in the UK so the extra lights only come on with hi beam). The extra switch...

The bulb should be wired across the points gap. Old timers would trap a ciggy paper in the gap, pull gently whilst turning the dizzy and stop when the paper just started to pull out. Q1. have you adjusted the gap correctly? Q2. have you replaced the condenser?

    solenoid to altenator advice please

The two brown wires are the current feed from the alternator and the voltage sense back to the regulator. Assuming the alternator isn't fried you can just replace these two wires - I'm not sure what size of wire you need but they're reasonably thick. Join them at the solenoid end. The...

    2.25 petrol overheating

What are the symptoms? Is it blowing out steam? is it losing power? or is it just reading hot? Running without the thermostat should still allow the engine to run at a reasonable temperature. Could the voltage regulator that feeds the temp gauge be nadgered? - if so your fuel gauge will be...

    Rough Running
