James, I'm about to throw the towel in with Britpart. I know we've fitted a few in the past without issue, but it isn't just this case where their parts were faulty.

Tried to fit a Britpart D2 rear coil conversion the other day, only to find the lower spring seats were incorrectly manufactured. They rested on the axle, rather than the axle bracket. The Bearmach kit fitted fine. For a DIYer, who wants to do it as cheap as possible, Britpart is worth it...

Oils are becoming manufacturer specific. You ideally need the Ford product meeting WSS-M2C913-B. The GM [Vectra] is different again, as is the VAG oil.

Land Rover specify 5w30 to Ford WSS-M2C913-B (like the Ford Magnatec) for the Td5, so make sure it meets these specs - However, I doubt it makes much difference on these...

Don't ever hear this, but then it is a noisy beast after all? The Tech would have been using IDS/SDD as Testbook does not cover past Td5. No lights at all on the instrument pack? If not, wouldn't panic just yet. ;)

Air flow is slightly high, but not bad - Should be 55 to 60 at idle with all loads off the vehicle (A/C, lights etc). Worth taking a snapshot at 2,000 rpm - should be around 190 to 200. Everything else ok. Manifold pressure will only change when driving the vehicle, not sat still revving...

It's due a very big service at 105k, so insist the cam belts and the rear HP fuel belt is done properly (and not just faked!). You are probably looking at a £1500 to do this service at a LR dealership. Check the Electronic Park Brake is working - put it on and off 10 times in a row. Check...

Can you confirm it is a 2008 Freelander2 with the 2.2 engine?

There are 9 solenoids in total, but 3 of them are 'Duty' solenoids which control the pressures around the box. It will probably be one of these which has failed, but you may as well change all 3. IIRC, Line Pressure, 2-3 Brake duty and Lock Up.

No garage replaces a battery like that. Perhaps it was confirmed dead before they replaced it. Did they use the correct one, because if they didn't then it won't stand a chance of keeping an L320 going as even the Genuine Part ones are on the limit.

Get it done, otherwise you won't have a Discovery this time next year. 'Drive it in, sweep it out' is particularly true with Discovery2 of any age.

No way to bleed it now, once you've opened the system. Why not check by disconnecting one of the pipes (perhaps one up at the regulator) and put ignition on. See if any fuel comes out. Td5 pumps are a real mystery. I wouldn't be surprised to here this one never ran properly.
