Hello,

On behalf of my local landy specialist, I am conducting a survey with regards to whether or not you have been experiencing any problems when starting your TDCI (Ford Puma) engine, particularly in sub-zero temperatures. So, if you've got a Defender with this engine fitted, please could you spare a second to tick the appropriate box below :)

Thanks,
-Pos

Not quite as good as my 200TDi, but no problems for me.

Thanks for that. Reason for the poll being that they have received plenty of complaints about TDCI engines refusing to start in sub-zero temperatures, particularly further up North (towards Scotland) where they have had extremely cold weather. I am just trying to find out whether or not it's a common occurrence :)

Loving my landy this time of the year!
Been -7 regularly here and its started first time everytime!! :)
Especially loving the heated windscreen and seats

must admit my old 190000 plus miler 200tdi disco1 starts first time at the turn of the key in the very cold we been getting,
but at the moment its running on straight pump doosel, plus a drop of cheepo 2t oil added.

starts on 4, stays on four.

cant fault it.

He's talking about the TDCI!!
AH,
so was trewey above....

fair point though,
that more modern mondeo doosel crap compared to the older one I had.
that also was faultless @ well over 190000 miles,
bloody good on doosel also,
but was not the crap TDCi either...
progress eh,
progress!!!

2007 110 Puma - always starts first time whatever the weather. Had an issue with the central locking misbehaving in sub-zero temperatures but the engine has been faultless.

Mine has been fine since software upgrade, although had a long turnover a week or so back on a frosty one so will update as weather gets colder as is my first year with tdci

I've a 110 on a 60 plate. It will start but runs like a bag of ****e and belts out blue smoke. Considering checking out the glow plugs. Just haven't been bothered to do it yet.
