Disco 2 Anyone ever removed the rubber side trims?

Just did the same job 3 months ago. Liberal soaking with WD40. Sharp knife and patience. Also heated with a heat gun at same time. Really got most of it off. Tip for fitting, use the heat gun on both the strips and the body BUT BE CAREFUL. I found, probably because of fitting older strips, I had...

    Disco 2 Steering Box Gamble.

Meego, I have a used steering pump which I replaced due to a bad diagnosis (Disco 2) Obviously kept the new one in place. If its of any use you can have it. Done about 90k miles and was actually working fine, just wrong diagnosis caused change. Jim A 1996 Disco 1 300Tdi auto (gone) 2002 Disco...

    Disco 2 Steering

Give the two uj,s in the steering column an absolute soaking with WD40 to loosen them up then lubricate with liquid grease. May have to do it a couple of times

    Tow bar light

for Bigeeeeee I had a jap reimport Disco 1 which read in KM,s Perfectly ok to the DVLA. Had to remind my garage every year that the MOT was in KM,s and to make sure that what went on paper. Also had a sticker on the dash saying "distance reads in Kilometres"

    Disco 1 Rust

Be very careful to check condition of boot floor. Loosen 5? screws if I remember well and lift carpet and sound deadening to check.

    Discovery td5 auto RPM

Have you thought about keeping box in 3rd gear when in your hilly town sections. This has been used often when in long hills when towing. Cheers Jim A.

    Is it likely?

I agree with turbo man. I seldom go below half tank and then a fill up to the top. Spent over 50 years in earthmoving plant hire and always instructed operators to fill up every night. £50/60 a time to top up just isn't,t as bad as £100 a time. All works out.

    Help !!! Part needed

I have to ask. Have you tried your local main dealer.? I had the same on my 300 Tdi just over 3 years ago and they had it on the shelf. Just because it's an older model don,t knock the Landrover dealers.

    Disco 2 Front Bumper

I bumped a hole in front bumper myself. About 2/3 inches and recoveredtheparts. Was repaired very well by my local garage. Colour is Zambezi silver. If you get stuck, Kevin at Bankhead, Glenrothes can supply a 2nd hand one but quite a distance

    Disco 2 Heated washer jets?

Surely the answer is to increase the amount of neat windscreen wash. You can go to 100% concentrate and living up here in Bonny Scotland we get lots of cold frosty mornings. I use 50/50 in the summer but increase to literally complete concentrate by now. I will only top up with neat stuff now...

Td5 rough running when first started from cold

2SO is two stroke oil. Cheapest mineral base you can get. I buy mine from Morrisons, £2. for a 500 mil bottle Add at 100 to 1 basis. If you want to check this out just goggle " 2SO in diesel" keep you reading for a month. As I said, cheap and worth a try.

Td5 rough running when first started from cold

I had a similar problem when I got my 2002 Td5 auto in 2013. As I had been adding 2SO to fuel in my old Disco 1 300Tdi auto I added some to the Td5. I also filled it with a tank of the top grade BP ultimate fuel. I don,t use supermarket fuel, add 2SO every time I fill up. Cured the dodgy...

    Disco 1 Discovery 300tdi 5 Door Auto

Hello Toonarf, with regard to your boot floor I have a very personal idea that most of the wet comes from condensation forming on the inspection plate to the tank. This soaks the soundproofing completely. MY old 1996 300Tdi auto(Jap reimport) had a little sign of surface rust and the...

Disco 1 Causes of rust in the rear end

Also check out the boot floor. Liable to rust badly. I believe that a lot of the problem with boot floor is condensation from the inspection plate over the tank. On my Disco 1 after painting the boot floor I covered the plate with a full newspaper to absorb any condensation and changed it every...

North Coast 500 completed in Disco 1

Hope you remembered to wash the salt water off when you got home. Spong, 500 miles of single track road, most of it, and wandering sheep does not make it a fast trip. Before it became famous I have covered it with a Peugeout 406 and caravan in tow. Quite exciting when you meet people who do not...

Brake light switch and auto gears

If it is a Jap re import the trick to keep moving is to short the brake light switch with a paper clip . Had this problem about 6 years ago. Not a hard job to fit new switch. Being a contortionist helps. I found the information on an American LR website. Also do NOT put lever back in park,use...

    Collapsed Driver's Seat

You need a replacement seat support. I replaced mine on my Disco 1. Think it came from John Craddock. Not too expensive and a better design. As a temporary repair when the rubber part split I drilled acseriesof parallel holes and used plastic ties and worked well.
