Help - My Discovery 300 TDi drivers seat has collapsed. There appears to be an orange webbed square with black stretchy rubber bits bonded on two sides, then metal hooks tensioning it to the outer edge of the sat. One of the rubber sections have given way. Anyone know if/where I can buy a replacemant? I note the original was made by 'Birnam Products' but nothing on web.

my mate had the same problem. he repaired it using some seat belt webbing threaded through the bars at each side, then turned back on itself and secured with pop-rivets and penny washers. it worked a treat and he said the seat was more comfy after than it was before!

I wuz thinkin of tryin this . Mine went the other day 200 mile from home. I pulled up then sank slowly and thought, ooher i int got leccy seats, summats gone
Soo a 200 mile trip sat on the floor
Then ah thought of gerrin some thick rubber like mattin etc an cuttin it to size then using an eyelet punch . Found one in the shed


And puttin loads of eyelets in tha rubber n zip tyin to the frame. Anyways ah got sick of lookin fer a bit rubber and am not gonna cut me gimp mask up soo ah thort I'd try this .





Duct tape
I took the seat squab off fer two reasons.
1 - it were a bastid to get the hooks back n easier from the top n
2 - the base cover is worn so am gonna gerrit repaired while its off

Dunno if the tape will last but ah got two chances.

You need a replacement seat support.
I replaced mine on my Disco 1. Think it came from John Craddock.
Not too expensive and a better design.
As a temporary repair when the rubber part split I drilled acseriesof parallel holes and used plastic ties and worked well.

I got some material and a friend of the mrs repaired the ripped seat bolster
Put it all back and the gaffa taped webbing feels much better.
If it doesn't hold I might try gorilla tape or some rubber matting with eyelets or bite the bullet and pay £40 to craddocks
(not cheap ) and buy a new webbing diaphragm.

Anyway its nicer ter have the landy back .
