    Engine coolant leak?

Had a similar leak that I traced to a heater hose clip not tight enough

Drivers door pull broken and twisted--and Fixed!

Good tip about the Vaseline, I'll remember that next winter.

    Discovery 300 tdi Head Gasket

Don't immediately assume the worst! Check for busted rad, leaking hose clips or a split hose, symptoms may just be from water loss

Drivers door pull broken and twisted--and Fixed!

I managed to mangle the drivers door handle when the door was frozen shut. Anyway, the door wouldn't open from the outside. It seems that the replacement part is very expensive. I wanted to confirm that it is possible to get a rear door handle from the same side of the car and use the door pull...

    Hello :)

    Welcome :welcome2:

    droning rumbling noise.

I had a similar rev related rumbling noise, I traced it eventually to the sound proofing thing that sits on top of the 300tdi engine. It was a bit mangled and was flapping around, so chucked it away.

    First winch

If you take it apart to clean it, do NOT use WD40 like I did, it caught alight when I ran the motor:doh:.

Doesn't seem to be running right

My disco used to slow right down on long motorway gradients, it had multiple problems. Check all the things mentioned above plus the injector leak off pipes which can start to leak and stop you driving uphill. I eventually dumped the catalytic converter (replaced with straight through pipe)...

Is My Turbo About To Go Pop?

Is it the snorkel, blocked air intake or filter? Have you checked all the turbo hoses and connections and the big airpipe from air filter to engine, all these things are passenger side

    Stripped and Seized Screws/Bolts

The bolts on my Disco seats snapped. I used cobalt drill bits with cutting oil at low speed on the drill.

East Sussex - Had anyone been laning there?

Hi, I've given my 2 penneth worth to the survey. I know it's and emotive subject but have tried to remain objective...."I enjoy walking on R.O.W and driving my land rover in a considerate and responsible manner, where the law allows. I do not appreciate being confronted with narrow, heavy gauge...

    winch bumper law

I've had a winch bumper fitted to my 97 disco for 5 years and have never been stopped by the law, and there's plenty of them round here. It's declared on my insurance which is the main thing. If you are with a mainstream insurance company, they don't like mods and maybe won't insure you. Best to...

    BFG high mileage

My BFG AT tyres have clocked up 97000 miles and still going. No punctures. I'm not planning on replacing them yet as still plenty of tread. Can anyone top this? I wondered what the top mileage anyone's had out of a set of tyres. I would buy them again, but they would probably outlast my Disco...

    Rear door wont open

I did mine recently, bought the parts from ebay. File a V-shaped groove in an old flat blade screwdriver to push the spring in place, saves hours of struggle!

    diff lock not working

That's where adding a locking axle diff at the rear can help. Like ARB or Detroit trutrack.

    Low range linkage broken

Finally got round to fixing the low range linkage, it's awkward or impossible from underneath, so took out the centre console and drilled out the rivets from the gear lever cover. Undid the broken clevis taking care not to drop anything, it was a bit fiddly to replace it. Took the opportunity...

    intermittent start issue

I think it stands for Digital diesel stop solenoid, search DDS on this forum or try this link Land Rover Addict Forums Underneath it is a standard fuel cut off solenoid. The DDS is part of the immobiliser components.

    Low range linkage broken

Wow, that's brilliant Dippypud, It's part 26 that's broken. Days of trawling the internet, and problem solved within 30 mins on Landyzone!:) Many Thanks

    Low range linkage broken

Hi all, The low range linkage on my 97 disco has broken, the lever waggles uselessly. I have found the yolk in the linkage on the transfer box to be broken. Has anyone else managed to fix this without removing the transfer box? I think I can reach it if I take off the front prop shaft. Does...

    intermittent start issue

If the spider turns out to be ok, it might be the DDS unit. My 97 disco had a problem last August which seemed to be heat related. It would start 1st time every morning, then would play up later in the day, sometimes it would take an hour of trying (no engine turnover) before starting. Mine did...
