Don't immediately assume the worst! Check for busted rad, leaking hose clips or a split hose, symptoms may just be from water loss

I had a similar rev related rumbling noise, I traced it eventually to the sound proofing thing that sits on top of the 300tdi engine. It was a bit mangled and was flapping around, so chucked it away.

If you take it apart to clean it, do NOT use WD40 like I did, it caught alight when I ran the motor:doh:.

My disco used to slow right down on long motorway gradients, it had multiple problems. Check all the things mentioned above plus the injector leak off pipes which can start to leak and stop you driving uphill. I eventually dumped the catalytic converter (replaced with straight through pipe)...

Is it the snorkel, blocked air intake or filter? Have you checked all the turbo hoses and connections and the big airpipe from air filter to engine, all these things are passenger side

I did mine recently, bought the parts from ebay. File a V-shaped groove in an old flat blade screwdriver to push the spring in place, saves hours of struggle!

That's where adding a locking axle diff at the rear can help. Like ARB or Detroit trutrack.

I think it stands for Digital diesel stop solenoid, search DDS on this forum or try this link Land Rover Addict Forums Underneath it is a standard fuel cut off solenoid. The DDS is part of the immobiliser components.
