Trying to separate the seat frame from the runners but the phillips head 8mm bolts but they are seized solid and the heads are totally stripped.

Ive tried -
Heat
penetrating oil
Cutting a cross into the head and using a bigger driver
Stud extractor - broke in the hole...

Anyone got any ideas?

have u tried a cordless drill with a screwdriver bit and setting the clutch low, or an impact screwdriver ??

or a sds drill with a chisel bit and set on hammer stop to try and loosen the heads

can u get underneath access and using mole grips

Cant get underneath its hidden inside the runners.

Tried drill with a screw driver but theres literally no head left on most of em to even grip! May as well be made of cheese.

Tried smashing it with a hammer and screw driver, nothing.

I can drill the heads off but then im still left with the studs in the bloody frame!

Only idea im left with is to try and slowly drill the entire stud out going up a few mm in drill size at a time. Then try and snap whats left out of the nut.

Changing my diff in sub zero temps was easier than trying to fit these ####ing seats supposedly 'made for Defenders' biggest load of bollocks.

had this fun on my old series but not sure in how they compare , remember trying to remove the seat base and floor panels, think only one came out

I ended up smashed the head off, used a centre punch then drilled them out, and finished off with a tap , when I installed the new bolts I used a lot of coppaslip

hope u get on ok, nothing like a five minute job turning into days

trying to think of the special drill bit that unscrew bolts, screws etc when there's nothing left, think machinemart sold them, maybe someone else can remember what there called

also have y tried a dremal to cut a nice slot in the head, if u can't get heat on due to carpets etc around, try resting a
soldering iron on the head after you've cut a slot in the head and hit it with an impact screwdriver or cordless drill

a small chisel and hammer to try and turn the head

Get yourself some stud extractors and Swarfega Duck Oil. Duck Oil is hands down the best stuff I've ever used and it actually works. Spray liberally and then centre punch the screw then get to work with your stud extractor. It should come out with some of those. Lidl get a set in now and again for pretty cheap. Haven't used mine yet

Tried some stud extractors. It broke in half and didnt move it at all!

The seats are out i just cant separate the frame from the runner!

Do what wolfy did, call in a real man, don't know how much cake you will need to entice bigeeee down to you though

If you do remove the heads and lift the runner off you are left with a length of screw which you should be able to turn using vicegrips. This will also let you get some releasing fluid (I recommend plus-gas) down to the actual seized threads. At worst you can then cut them off flush, and drill and tap.Good luck

+1

Also, could you drill a small hole down the middle of the bolt and then work your way up with a bigger drill bit.

Turns out my drill is just total ****. For the time being Ive managed to mod my old subframe to suit the seat so I can at least have a passenger seat!

Second my mate has a big chunky drill which i will borrow to drill the heads off and work from there....

Thank you very much for the help chaps!
