    td5 lacking power

You might put your location in your profile, there might be a member close to you with a code reader. AFIK there are no inexpensive fault readers. There are few code readers for the TD5, ranging from £350 - £7000+ (second-hand Nanocom - Testbook) And when you've got it sorted, give Mike @...

Advice on how to use difflock/transfer gearbox

Yes, that's the right place for road driving. You only need low range if you're in a muddy field, & if you're not moving then select diff-lock

    Not level disco2

Personally, I'd stick with the air-bags. As a member here said " If you've got a Breitling watch, you don't use your mobile to find out the time". You just need to get the SLABS ecu reset. Find anyone local to you a Nanocom, Hawkeye or Testbook , they should be able to sort it for you. Just a...

    Disco 11 air con

Thanks for the replies guys. Just had the air-con serviced & re-gassed, that's when I found out the air-con fan was goosed. So I'm running with the air-con relay removed. Not much need for air-con here, it's 1.5 C @ the moment! However, I've heard that the disco air-con leaves a bit to be...

    Td5 mpg

Just done a trip south via Mike @ Dynachip, ( only a 40 mile detour) & had a standard re-map. Necked it before I left & necked it 20 miles after the re-map, turned out @ 32mpg. Cruised down not exceeding 3000 rpm. Can't honestly say what I get @ the moment, as the increase in driveability is...

Where oh where is the water coming from?

I just marked the lock & hinges with a marker pen & put a line on the body as a datum before loosening the bolts. Then just pushed the in about 2mm & re-tightened the bolts. Means you get a closer seal on the door.

Where oh where is the water coming from?

Hi Mcd on Skye If it's anything like mine (52 plate D11) it was the screen seal. Cured with bathroom silicone. Back door, I just moved the lock & hinges inboard & that sorted it. airhook

    TD5 Turbo

Thanks all for the replies. Was a cool engine & "was the inside of the unit clean or was there sludge in it when you move it did the fins rub the casing?" It was clean & no sign of contact with outer casing. I've always done a cool-down of my turbo's - 3 mins on the choppers I used to fly, so...

It's normal for a D11 to give a whoosh about 10 secs after turning it off

    TD5 Turbo

Just done a 96k service on my D11 52 plate & while replacing the air filter, I removed the pipe to the turbo, giving access to it. I have about 1mm play on the turbo bearings, is this normal? Just changed the oil & it used 1/4 litre in 12k miles. Not bad in my opinion. Is this something to worry...

    Snapped key in the ignition

Hi Dan, Had exactly the same problem myself. I sorted it by taking off the complete steering lock, just tap the sheer-bolt heads with a cold-chisel to undo them. I used a pointing chisel. Now split the electrics from the steering lock, & tape your key-fob to the coil-like thingy, that's the...

    Steering Wheel Judder

I know I might be flogging a dead horse, but what make of tyres are you using? My son-in-law is in the motor trade & has had problems with weird makes - totally unbalanceable! best of luck airhook

    Miles per gallon

Hi Fishsponge, To get back to the original topic, Just done a run from Inverness and The Wirral - average 32mpg. (I'm not the most law-abiding citizen) Got a tweak from Dynachip - the best money I've ever spent on a vehicle, totally transformed the car, it's not a truck now. Will let you know...

Another Air Bag / Height Sensor Issue

Hi Rosedale, I also had a similar problem, it was the airbag. Nothing showed on the "Fairy Liquid" test - it was really intermittent! It was less than 3 yrs old, so I thought it can't be the airbag. I stand corrected it can be the airbag! Mine died on me 50 miles from home - limped home @ 20 mph...

air suspension on td5 1999 advice please

You should have no probs if L/R are fitting it. They should connect it to Testbook & set it back to the factory settings. However, if you've ever changed puncture, you could do it yourself, just do a search for airbag replacement. It's dead easy & the BCU generally remembers the previous...

Disco clutch, how fooked is it????

I agree with Dent, sounds like your clutch release bearing has seized & melted your clutch fork. Either way it's a gearbox out job.
