    1.8 litre 2001 petrol

I had a 1.8 for about 18 months before I bought my L series my dad owns my old 1.8 one and has run it for over a year, it had already had the thermostat conversion and the head gasket done and in the 2 1/2 - 3 years that I have known the car its been fine with no problems whatsoever. My dad has...

Hi, everyone some thieving twunt has stolen my mates 54 plate 110 from Rochdale last night, not much point in putting the reg on as it has no doubt been changed and I forgot to get it when I saw him today but it has got a very distinctive small dent in the front nearside wing where my handlebar...

    Fuel pump question

£900 quid in and the fault is still there??? OMG why did they change the injectors? If the garage diagnosed the fault and it wasn't that then you shouldn't be shelling out for injectors! No wonder mechanics get a bad name!

    engine running rough

It sounds like its drawing in a bit of air to me, check your pipes and make sure they are not hard or cracked, make sure the connections are all nice and tight and that all the copper washers on the fuel pump fittings are ok

    Brake conundrum

rear drum brakes use a self servo action or "self wrapping" to increase braking pressure to the drum, the leading shoe is grabbed by the drum and pulled closer to the drum by this action, if a drum is slightly rusty or the shoe is slightly over adjusted or even sometimes on a colder morning...

Long trip planned - other peoples experiences

we're driving to the south of France, Italy and Switzerland towing our caravan with our 1998 freelander L series in the summer I think as long as you've covered most of the common things to go wrong and keep it reasonably well maintained its just as capable as any car. I had an old rover 45 L...

    tyre question

Ive got Chinese all terrains on Ive done 13,000 miles on them so far on and off road and they seem fine to me I think on this kind of car its not quite as important to get high quality tyres as you are not as likely to be taking it to the limit around corners etc

I'm planning on making a mechanical replacement for the VCU!

lol I believe that fiat pandas use exactly the same type of design as I want t do for the freelander so I could do to get hold of one of them and have a look. As for the ratio issue it shouldn't make any difference to the ratios as I am just trying to figure out a way of mechanically joining the...

Anyone know how to program a remote fob?

Ive just used these guys and they were great, I had an intermittent fault with mine sent it for reconditioning they rang me as it seemed to be working when they got it so they wanted to confirm a fault. It only took 3 days from posting it to receiving it back. It works perfectly £40 well spent!! :)

Boost pressure gauge (psi) for freelander 2.0 di

I use mine as an eco gauge, I often find I can go exactly the same speed but with the engine not on as much boost if I back off the accelerator a little bit, so instead of being on say 15psi I can do the same on 11psi so less boost = less fuel :)

Boost pressure gauge (psi) for freelander 2.0 di

I plumbed mine in as per Winu's description I mounted mine to the right of the dash pod and through the grommet on the drivers side of the bulkhead, I wired it into a spare fuse holder on the fuse board which was an ignition feed so I only needed a male spade connector job done!!
