    Replacement bulk head

Try talking to Strathearn Engineering in Aucherarder. They make chasis from scratch and do a lot of fabrication... You may be lucky... You probably want to talk to Martin Jenkins 01764 663020

Series 3 project advice for a begginer!

Parabolics are better off-road as they give more articulation. They also allow faster movement at high speed, thus need new dampers because the old ones can boil their oil, not designed for the higher frequency operation. This means the tyres stay in contact with the road more, always good...

    Series III Gearbox

A word of caution on the new gearboxes, the new parts are not made by the same folk as made the old ones... If you have an old box with a few peices that need replacing, replace them. The recon boxes have parts made in India that are "cause for concern"...

    Freewheel hubs

Wasn't it the SII had less splines? Vague recollection...

    Need for more speed

Another caution... Fairey don't make spare parts any more.... Getting very difficult to get, I have a Rocky Mountain overdrive now.

    Need for more speed

Hi Guys, A word of caution... The two suggested methods are good, and each one is fine on its own. However, I would not advise fitting both RR diffs and an overdrive. The power in the 2.25 is simply not enough. The V8, nice idea but go carefully... OK you now have the power in the engine but...

    Ideas for cooling!!

Liquid Nitrogen? Sorry, feeling a bit strange after sniffing the latest dripping fluid...:D

    Parabolics (again)

Oh, Rocky Mountain springs use non-standard bushes... sorry! ;)

    Parabolics (again)

I know a man who is very harsh on his springs, and he swears by Rocky Mountain parabolics, Canadian. I am generally very cautious of anything originating in India or China as the quality of metal is often at best questionable. The British Springs parabolics used to be made in the UK, it's a wee...

    Parabolics (again)

Interestingly when I was trying to replace the springs on my 88', before to Parabolics. I had springs from both Paddocks and Craddocks that seemed to be made of mild steel. They were just soft and flattened out... I went to the parabolics in disgust as the quality of the others was so poor...

    Fairey Overdrive Parts

Neither bit mate, but a useful supplier! ;) The first but mounts on the shaft I need. The second one runs parallel to it.

    Fairey Overdrive Parts

Thanks mate, but splines are stripped and heavily worn... The shaft itself is ok I think.

    Fairey Overdrive Parts

Hi Lazy, No mate, not just a simple axle setup, machines splines both inside and outside with a profile from nearly 3" diameter down to about 1/2".. a problem peice! ;) Charles has given me a local lads name though, maybe get one knocked up. ;)

    Fairey Overdrive Parts

Hi Lazy, Yup I heard a similar thing, that's why I bought a Rocky Mountain one. I was kinda hoping some vintage car part supplier may have adopted it as a "volume part"... maybe... lol

Yup, I'm near Dunfermline... It's rare anyone wants me to be from Dunfermline, but I am... ;)

    Parabolics (again)

Hi Boozer, I have the British Springs Parabolics on an 88', with Procomp shocks. The main effect I noticed was increased roll on corners, with a slightly softer ride. Increased articulation was also obvious. The increased roll, basically makes it handle more like a Disco, the old SIII had...

    Fairey Overdrive Parts

Hi Guys, I have an old Fairey overdrive, from before the days of my new Rocky Mountain overdrive. The other day I re-assembled it following "Legs" returning it to me in pieces, not that I hold a grudge!!! I have found I need a new mainshaft and a couple of other bits that seem to have been...

    Corrosion...

Hi Guys, Thanks for the info, I had come across the sacrificial anodes and wondered if anyone would have tried them. I dunno if I fancy a lump of Magnesium in my car if it catches fire, but then if it's on fire I have other problems and the games over anyway! lol I do wonder why the new...

    Do you trust your landy

I have 2 landies. The Series III, would trust to get me pretty much anywhere. Maybe not in the traditional style, it's kinda like the shaggy mongrel dog you meet in the street. It has a very young approach to life... It likes to vary my sartorial elegance by introducing such fashions as...

    Corrosion...

Ok Guys, before you say it, I know there is no stopping it. I have a 98 Series I Discovery 300Tdi. It's doing surprisingly well for a modern Landrover, it's only had 2 new back doors a new set of front wings and a paint job. After all it is only 9 years old... :rolleyes:Ahem! However, I am...
