    landrover discovery 2 glass

No specialist tool but the Haynes manual says "The glass is secured by the tight fit of a weatherstrip in the body aparture and are bonded into position with a special adhesive. The removal and refitting of these areas of fixed glass are difficult, messy and time consuming which is...

    Blue Smoke question

All the manuals say it cant be done - you need new or reconditioned. people claim to have had a head skimmed, but they then have trouble with them blowing again later on... have a look at: TD5 Cylinder Head Questions

    Ace / ps oil

PS It should be green - sometimes the garages put the cheaper red stuff in during service or repair - they did with mine...

    td5 sagging suspension..

Airbags are better than springs, but converting to springs can funnily enough be cheaper than renewing air bags, particularly the case if you've also got a leak on the pump. Just a thought - conversion kits on ebay and all major 4x4 outlets...

    Blue Smoke question

OK - I'll stick my head above the parapit - the classic reason is oil getting into the combustion chamber and there are several possibilities for that (some of which you've seemingly already dealt with) which leaves other - such as a broken piston ring. Worth a compression test perhaps...

    Disco 2 tyres

DISCO 2 TYRES - Before you point me to the `what size tyres' guide - that is for disco 1's and doesnt apply to disco 2's. I was going to do a 2" lift and fit 265/75/16 discoverer STT tyres. However I've unfortunately not enough cash this year to both lift and buy new tyres - so I'm just going...

td5 disco ace equipement 52 plate

Why not just bin the ACE - it costs around £380 for a full mechanical replacement which is an easy fix. search for the string entitled `binning the ACE'

5 seater to 7 seater Conversion

As far as the suspension goes, its fairly easy to upgrade to HD springs to accommodate rear seats. However, they would then not be `type approved' and you may have to delare this as a modifiction on insurance :o( However, I've been looking (only looking as I've no money at the moment) at the...

    hi alt. turbo lag

You are right it should - but... the engine works harder at higher alts and it if you have a weakness in these systems (as opposed to a clear failure) it may not necessarily show at sea level, but only under the strain of higher alts.

    hi alt. turbo lag

Could be Maf but other possible alternatives include: - fuel pump delivering at lower than standard pressure - fuel fiter clogged - vacuum leak at intake manifold or associated hoses - faulty injectors Hope this helps

If its not seized brake caliper pistons, then the next best bet is a faulty master cylinder..

    air suspention

Air suspension is generally regarded as better as long as its properly serviced - unless you are going to circumvent Africa where you will get really rough conditions and where servicing may be an issue....

To sell or not to to sell, that is the question

If you MUST have that size Nissan, go for the Xtrail. I had one - they are great cars, arguably best of the `soft roaders', fit some ATs and it will do as a good 2 season Green laner as well as a family car for every day use. Very reliable and 42mpg on the 2.2 diesel.

Air in fuel system help !

If this is a TD5 they are meant to self bleed (well according to the Haynes manual!). However I follow the advice on www.discovery2.co.uk / Diesel Fuel Filter You will see that there is a sequence for bleeding the filter here. I use this - it works. :) Hope this helps, Ian

    Any differences in TD5 engines??

Seems like no one else replied - OK I've done some research and the engines can be a straight swap. The old ECU should work, but if you've access to the ECU from the other engine then that may be worth trying. Hope this helps.

    Air suspension prob

I've fixed rubber inflatable boats (RIBs) with patches and they stay airtight under high pressure. The problem with applying that to the Disco is that they tend to go on the folds, so its a less than ideal place to have a patch. Also, as has been said, they are not massively expensive, even...

    Any differences in TD5 engines??

As far as I know.... the defender and discovery engines are basically the same. However, the TD5's did include upgrades through their lifetime. If you are swopping a 10p for a 15p then it should be OK, but I do believe that the ECU are different, so for optimal performance you may need to swap...
