    Fuel burning Auxillary heater

I've been reading my Haynes manual to see if there is any way of improving my car heater and I came across the `Fuel burning Auxillary Heater' that is fitted to some Disco 2's (and apparently Disco 3's) but unfortunately not my disco 2 - anyone know if its a possible retro-fit one and if so how ?

Quick Question - Gearbox sump plug size

Quick question I hope - Anyone know what size spanner fits the gearbox sump plug on a Disco 2? It looks like a 30 or 32mm but my set doesnt go up that far and its impossible to get a socket on - so I'll have to buy one.

    Thinking of joining the club!

A 55 D3 is the first of the D3 model, nice -but they had some teething problems that were sorted out in later years. why not get a 54 D2 - which was the last of the TD5s and well sorted and fairly reliable

    TD5 Braemar - RUST

I think thats exceptional. I had plenty of time to discuss with guys at Rustmaster when i was there and they say the MK2s are a bit better than the MK1's but that rust holes on the rear chassis is not unheard of. No mention of an example that bad. Mind you we've had 3 years of heavy salt on the...

    Draining the ACE system

Thanks - I had a sneaking suspicion that it wouldnt be straight forward... so is it worth getting the pink stuff out to get the more expensive green stuff in? ATF I think means Automatic Transmission Fluid - which is also used in the power steering system and can be either green or pink...

    Draining the ACE system

Hi, anyone know the best way to drain the ACE system on a DIsco 2? Previous owner filled it with the wrong (pink) fluid and its always been at the back of my mind to replace it with the right stuff. He did the same for the power steering system, but there I presume I drain it through the...

    oil change, cambelt change

I certainly agree with the DIY on Service. They you know exactly what you are getting in your car and not what the garage has cheap and in stock - you also dont get your bolts overtightened or gnarled by apprentices using air tools! The only problem I've found is in disposing of the old oil...

    castrol gtx at asda

I dont want to hijack the thread, but what oil do you use James? I've a TD5 and I was going to use Morris Multivis 5W/30 at next change Morris Lubricants - Morris Lubricants but will go with a recommendation instead from a knowledgeable enthusiast...

    Hello..to all

It is a grey area. Technically I've read that you can fail an MOT if you replace the air with springs and have 7 seats as Land Rover only got approval for 7 seats on the Disco with air suspension - they didnt apply for springs. However, I've never heard of anyone actually failing an MOT for that...

    Diff lock on a td5

If you check your transfer box for the serial number - those starting with 41D and 42D already have the diff lock mechanism in - otherwise you have to buy the kit from Ashcroft Transmissions to put in there.

    TD5 Air Con.

OK! - but it can be easy to make mistakes with a new car. I know i mixed up the ACE and power steering systems for a while as previous owner swopped filler caps... ON retro fitting I would definately be interested in how to do this too - ambitions of African driving..

    TD5 Air Con.

I wonder if you are perhaps confusing the air recirculation button for an air conditioning button?
