Hi, anyone know the best way to drain the ACE system on a DIsco 2?
Previous owner filled it with the wrong (pink) fluid and its always been at the back of my mind to replace it with the right stuff.

He did the same for the power steering system, but there I presume I drain it through the bleed nut on the rack?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

ACE:- To do this properly you need access to a Nanocom/Hawkeye or similar electronic device which has a program for opening and closing the valves in the system.

PAS:- exactly as you said. Suck out any pink fluid in the reservoir then top-up with the correct LR fluid (although some have migrated to using atf, which is pink?) allowing the old stuff to come out of the bleed screw.


Not really neccesary to do this on the pas system.
 
Thanks - I had a sneaking suspicion that it wouldnt be straight forward... so is it worth getting the pink stuff out to get the more expensive green stuff in?

ATF I think means Automatic Transmission Fluid - which is also used in the power steering system and can be either green or pink depending on grade and type. The right type for the Disco2 is dyed green and costs about 40% more than the pink stuff I've currently got in.

Only reason for the green stuff is it's better for very low temperatures like -20 C

Having said that with the current low temperatures it may be worth having it in, but have never heard of any problems with ATF freezing.
