    300tdi Excessive Vibration Problem

I had a rattle like that. I'd forgotten to do the wheel nuts up.

    seized water pump bolt

I've done this, same prob! The heads snapped off the bolt, not snapped at the block end, if I undo the rest of the bolts should it in theory with a bit of convincing slide off?

    rear diff filler plug

I havent got a filler plug on mine either as I discovered after I put range rover diffs in, Ive been filling it up through the breather with the exact amount needed... ought to get round to doing the same as you at some point!

I had the same prob with the oil seal in the timing case, did the same thing running along under the sump. renewed the seal and the sump gasket, not had a look underneath lately - probably still leaking!

    Help Striping Engine

Take the starter motor off and wedge a chisel in, haynes says something like that but be careful not to break/damage anything

    Another bl**dy rattle..

Replaced the timing chain and tensioner, still got the rattle but at least that's ruled out! Must be clutch or gear box I guess - wait till it breaks!

Just about to buy High ratio transfer kit

I've got range rover diffs in mine as well, much better, you can drive everywhere in third gear, always a surprise when you realise youve still got 4th gear to go!

    Fitting an Exhaust System

Like Sean says, if you can do the brake pipe it's easy. The exhaust to manifold joint was iffy on mine as was the rest of the exhaust so I changed it - but that same joint was a minor problem to disconnect, I think I broke one of the studs but that was it. (oh and I didnt jack it up off of the...

    Another bl**dy rattle..

The whole thing is a tin of baked beans full of nails/nuts/bolts... etc. On a more serious note I looked up how to do the timing chain and it seems do-able but a lot of frigging about removing lots of stuff, has anyone done it on here?
  19. dantaylor360

    Another bl**dy rattle..

I'll try and do that, in the meantime any guesses will do as im sure the recording will be undecipherable!

Engine Dies on Idle... Where to start

All already mentioned but if youve done all of the obvious things like plugs, leads and checked the distributor cap, set the points correctly, put a new condensor on you've eliminated all of those problems. with that and cleaning the carb and setting it up correctly should cure it, I'd also...
