Most of the rattles I can live with but I'd quite like to sort this one out..

Ive got a tinny sort of rattle when I change gear, most of the time in all gears which has been slightly eased by adjusting the timing slightly but not cured completely - Is it timing chain related and if so what should I do?

I'm fairly certain its not the gearbox, it could be the clutch i suppose but what do I know?! (I have done a search but can't find anything)

Thanks in advance,

Dan

make a sound recording of it and post it somewhere - solving audible issues using a visual medium is kinda difficult

or shall we all just have a random guess as per the usual

I'll try and do that, in the meantime any guesses will do as im sure the recording will be undecipherable!

I think its the baked bean tin full of nails under the passengers seat?

The whole thing is a tin of baked beans full of nails/nuts/bolts... etc.

On a more serious note I looked up how to do the timing chain and it seems do-able but a lot of frigging about removing lots of stuff, has anyone done it on here?

Time Chain Tensioner? Tensioner gone weak and allowing the chain to slap around abit.

I would recommend taking the Front panel with Rad off, then the fan, Water pump, Might need to take front pully off then front cover bolts (Including the 3 or 4 underneath that also hold the sump on).

Replaced the timing chain and tensioner, still got the rattle but at least that's ruled out! Must be clutch or gear box I guess - wait till it breaks!
