    alpine window leaking

Are you sure that it's the Alpine light and not the sunroof. Silicone is not the best sealant for the purpose as it will dry out and eventually crack. Take the rubber filler strip out of the retaining rubber, clean both sides out (glass and body side) and then use a proper windscreen sealant...

    3.9i auto spark plugs

I have been running NGK BPR6Es in my petrol 3.9i for three years with no issues. Often doesn't get used for more than a week and still starts first time whatever the weather.

    Fuel filter 3.9 change

I had the same problem with my 95 3.9 V8i. There was no way that the unions would come undone either side of the filter without damaging the pipes either side. When I replaced the boot floor, I took the opportunity to replace the pipe from the tank to the filter and use some couplings from...

Mobile phone on any drive in the Disco and cash/cards for fuel, it's a V8!

    Soft break pedal.......still!!

It sounds silly but I have seen it done. Have you got the calipers on correctly with the bleed nipples at the top?

    Harsh ride from my suspension

As has been suggested go for the bushes as the first point of call. replacing all of the front and rear axle location bushes on my 95 V8 transformed the handling and ride. The wayward steering and tendency to shake itself apart over a railway crossing disappeared completely. Don't forget to...

    What is it?

If you post or mail the VRN, I will put up the DVLA details if that's OK with you.

    Panoramic roof replacement

The glass itself from LR is around £300 plus VAT. Fitting is on top of that, probably around £100 or so plus VAT to include labour and consumables.

    Panoramic roof replacement

We have changed several Disco 3 panoramic roofs usually for dealers and it's not too bad a job. There are a couple of variations on the roofs but the cost is around £300 plus VAT for each version. Fitting normally takes no more than a couple of hours or so and isn't too difficult if you know...

hardly no brakes after fitting stainless hoses

Did you remove the calipers in the process of changing the hoses? I have seen calipers put back on the wrong side and upside down by a skilled (momentarily absent minded) mechanic. Bleed nipples at the bottom and couldn't work out why the brakes wouldn't bleed.

    Interior leaks??

The water comes in through panel joints in the roof front corners and seeps through. I believe that only 89-94 Discovery models had the windscreen fitted in a rubber seal. After this all screens were direct glazed (stuck in) and the rubber trims are really just cosmetic.

    Interior leaks??

Common problem on D1 and D2 is the seam/joint of the steel panels behind the top corner of the windscreen. The seam can allow water to leak out behind the windscreen; water then runs out onto the headlining corners. My D1 has a tiny amount coming in this way but I saw a D2 with a sigificant...

    vibration at 60ish

The point that I was trying to make was that there were many contributory factors on my high mileage vehicle. Each replacement improved the ride/handling but the steering shake did not disappear until I had replaced or rebuilt all of the parts listed.

    vibration at 60ish

When I bought my standard 150,000 mile Disco 1 V8 a couple of years ago, it used to shake it's steering violently over a local level crossing and for about the next fifty yards. I thought that a simple steering damper change would solve the problem but found out that whilst it improved things...

    Power steering issues on D1

Just replaced my 95 Disco 1 power steering pump with a secondhand one from Roverviews for £35. Old one suddenly became noisy and was close to seizing when removed. Straightforward job taking less than two hours. I have used Paddocks for the majority of the parts that I have bought. Never had...

    Power issues on 3.9 V8

You will be extremely lucky if you can change the fuel filter by simply undoing the unions. Mine hadn't been changed 'in some while' and I had to replace a fair bit of the piping either side of the filter to make it serviceable. I used unions and adaptors from Merlin Motorsport to solve the...

    Another windscreen thread...

Disco 1, 200, 90-94 is rubber glazed. Disco 1, 300, 94-98 is direct glazed and is a different screen from 90-94 Disco 2, TD5 98-04 is direct glazed and a different screen again.

    Illuminate me, please!

I stand corrected. Just pulled the switches out of mine and found one holder missing and several bulbs blown. I was sure that I had read somewhere that the whole switch had to be replaced. :frusty:

    Illuminate me, please!

As I understand, the switch lighting cannot be repaired; each switch has to be replaced to cure the lack of lighting unless I have got it completely wrong. I would be delighted if somebody can tell me of a way to replace the bulbs.
