If you're replacing bolts, why not go stainless? If the price difference is only a few quid, it's worth it.

This. I need to invest in a flexi ratchet extension. Managed to get them all undone with patience and 2 spanners and bending the old panel. I have no idea how i'm going to attach the new plastic one... :( Maybe captive nuts?

Bought a set of defender wings the other day, just cleaning them out and replacing one of the outer side panels. It was going great until i actually tried to remove the outer wing. There are nuts all along the outer wing join that are almost impossible to reach?! How the heck do you undo...

I too have petrol defender, 2.5 90. I have been offered an almost complete 300TDI engine for a good price and am currently trying to decide if it's worth it. From what I've heard, you need to re-arrange some engine mounts to fit a 300 in (and intercooler bracket?)

What condition was the engine on from that donor? I can't seem to find any non-EDC injector pumps, these things are like bloody gold dust :(

I've been looking for a donor disco but they're not as common as i thought. So what's the consensus on the 300TDI? worth it or not? At £250 it seems like a steal. Anyone got a 200TDI they're selling? :D

I've read and heard that putting in a 200TDI is a lot easier then a 300. The appeal of the 300 is that it's a more modern engine (and this one has low mileage). What did you do about the downpipe COA?
