    P38 head unit replacement

Hi folks, Right-Clarky130, the lead I use is NOT the nexxia one and the ebay link is the lead that works from sounds4wheels.co.uk. It's pricey cos it was specifically developed for the HK equipped P38 with the clarion headunit (red/pink 10 pin connector). I've found it works great, my hk sub...

    How to paint P38's bumbers?

It can be done BUT as Alanc says they have a crackle finish that needs sanding off! OR an isolating primer applying first, followed by high build primer until it can de sanded smooth, then painted and lacquered. I'd get the ready smooth primed ones for LR cos that's far too much work for a...

Who says P38's are expensive to run?

Who is FWR Steve? I'm not worried about fashionable tyres, I run Daytona 900, often 2 up, so you can see I ain't a fashion king, my leathers are plain black etc. Mind you I'd love another gixer but I can't bend far enough (back op) and my wife has already refused the pillion!

MPG not as scary as i thought

Yeah I didn't either when I saw the computer, so I did full to full calculation and it's right! I had a 3.5 auto a bit back and that averaged 14mpg-that's really scary. Like you tho, I'm pretty rural, if I go into town it's horrific especially if I get stuck in traffic. The positive is that most...

can someone explain how to work the....

Ah-ha, must have been busy driving to notice exact speed, well that and kmh clocks, thank you gentlemen. It must be working well tho cos I've never noticed other than the change of light bulb, how it's supposed to be I guess. Aye it took me a while to find the dash dimmer too.

can someone explain how to work the....

For what it's worth, I'd leave the EAS on auto and let it sort ride height out if it's working ok, it should drop to motorway after a short while above 60 ish mph.

    First Pic

By the way Kev, you should haver seen the abuse I got for daring to change the radio cassette for a dab unit on a standard apart from lpg high mileage autobiography, these seniors seem to have "Meldrew Syndrome" towards us juniors. They have their uses sometimes tho, especially when it comes to...

Looks great mate, that front end conversion is cracking.

Who says P38's are expensive to run?

Busters have a good deal on michelin bike tyres at the moment, do you want a JCB to empty a few cash machines for the rest? Good luck mate.

MPG not as scary as i thought

I'm just happy to see someone else getting more than 20mpg from a P38 and copping the disbelief from senior members (currently 21.45 from 4.6 on pure petrol).Good for you Kev in Bonnie Scotland. I think it's because we have cleaner air in the north-that's why Keviswatt gets even more than me...

    Big Thumbs Up

It should do if you've the clarion headunit with a pink or red 10 pin connector, but ask Peter via the ebat store link above. If you click on contact details it gives you his phone no as well and he's easy to talk to and really helpful.

    New head unit bought!

I think you're speaking in a foreign language, but I get your drift, much as I've found the subwoofer boosted HK system better than an ordinary system in an X type. You take your ICE seriously!

    New head unit bought!

Clarky130, check what frequencies your US spec head unit operates on-my Jap re-import could only pick up radio 2 before I spent about £50 on sounds 4 wheels adapter lead. If your HK set up is crap, my ears really must be worse than I thought, cos mine's great. It's even better than the few...

    Big Thumbs Up

The steering wheel controls and multichanger have their own leads, the multichanger has a large round connector on it, if it plugs into your headunit it will work otherwise an adapter is called for (personally I haven't bothered, multichanger is bust anyway) and your steering wheel controls need...

    Big Thumbs Up

It's not when your clarion radio cassette will only pick up radio 2 and the cd player doesn't work. If you've got HK use it and enjoy, with today's technology-DAB, ipod, iphone, usb etc. I'm starting to notice that us "Junior" members don't seem to have any valid opinions according to "Senior"...

    Big Thumbs Up

He's the man-I was told it can't be done. A newish head unit thru HK system is great for clearing frozen rain off your windows!

    Once Upon A Time........

No Fantasy about no industry mate, and remember the jap spec is set up really lean to comply with their emission regs-much tighter than ours, so I get genuinely better mpg, but I bet I don't have a full power engine tho. There are some strange fittings on the air inlets(not to do with lpg)...

    Once Upon A Time........

Why can't we stick to Andrealouisa's bargain P38 and much more importantly, her bikini shot? I don't see what the fuss about my 24 mpg is anyway, my old 3.5 vogue achieved 23mpg on a measured full tank to full tank trip to Scarborough( 90 miles, LOTS of hills not much steady speed) and I thought...

    Once Upon A Time........

Don't know what my petrol consumption has to do with Andrea's bikini, but yes the computer says 23.1 most of the time and I'm happy! It doesn't if I'm in traffic or urban mind!!! Since I drive mostly on single point lpg I don't use lots of revs, cause the first time I did it cost me an airbox...

    p38 and snow

How far is 8cm? Is that 2 feet? Giggle hysterically ( that was last winter on a bus route and after the plough had got stuck-didn't stop my 3.9 classic on lpg tho-only vehicle in and out of the hamlet for a fortnight) Oh yes and that was in the road, not the kerb!!
