Fitting the new part should take ten minutes You need 3 long extensions and a 15mm socket for the manifold bolts and a 13mm for the centre join bolts The manifold ones need a few blasts with wd40 or simillar before you do it

The cb may have a fuse on the back or internally

I just changed the engine also the rad got changed and took the sump off so the system was totally empty I got my usual 7 litres it didnt register on the dipstick The extra litre or so quoted in the manual must be totally from dry

try giving it a rub with a wire brush

oh and while your at it might as well do the damper of its still original

probly best to get new clamps and bolts too LAND ROVER STEERING BAR TRACK ROD END CLAMP AND NUT AND BOLT KIT | eBay they can be really stiff so stilsons are handy things to have Dont forget get the tracking done after £20 well spent

I've put a new engine in my discovery it won't start it's pushing white smoke out the air filter I suspect when I changed the injector pump over I've messed up the timing I've got no idea how to get it timed right the pulley bolts seemed to only go in one way the pump seems to go round in half...

Today was painful I got the engine in bolted up then went to bolt the torque converter up so put a socket on the front pulley it would not move so out came the engine It turns out there is another small but important difference between the manual and auto the manual has the copper crank bush...

Another difference is this spacer and shim? on the crank

As you can see the bell hosing flange's are different but they bolt on to the engine in the same pattern The flywheels are also quite different The injector pump has been changed over too they are the same size shape ect but one the auto has the funky wiring system Not had a good look...

Mine has done 220000 miles its being cooked a few times in the last few weeks and this engine is mint its only done 60000 miles

Well I managed to get the donor engine out it was a bastard getting the top bell housing bolts off the auto looks easier started stripping the original engine down too
