Yesterday I needed to move my 300tdi around my workshop so I asked my buddy who I share the workshop with to jump it off his Defender. He pulled up to my Disco and jumped out to hook up the leads while I got in the Disco. Got the shout to say the were connected, I turned the ignition on and the clocks went crazy, temp went off the scale and a new warning light was flashing. It was about this time my mate shouted and realised he had put the leads onto my battery the wrong way around.

A quick diagnosis so far, headlights don't work, central locking won't work, electric windows won't work, and I have the immobiliser light flashing as soon as I turn the ignition on and obviously the motor will not start. I guess im possibly going to need my fob/immobiliser re syncing (2 button fob which I have read cant be done by myself) and blown fuses for the lights etc? I've not yet checked my winch/ spot lights etc as they are all connected straight to the battery aswel.

Anything you guys can think of that I should be checking/ looking for when I next go down to the Disco that I might not have thought of?

Oh dear, You have sent time finding out what doesn't work so I assume you have checked your fuseable links and tried a good replacement battery, other than that something major... ECUs?

Will be checking every fuse tomorrow night, simply ran out of time yesterday to get into it. At very least I would hope that the lights and and windows will be a case of needing a new fuse.

However I don't think the immobiliser will be down to a fuse (I could be wrong as usual) im not a expert on the systems installed in the Disco so will rule out fuses and move on from there.
 
I will start with a proper delve into the fusebox, fingers crossed the problems are in there or atleast a few of them.

Wipers came on of their own accord when the leads were connected backwards so I would guess im going to have problems there too. I've not yet tried the electric mirrors or stereo but could probably see there being problems there too. Joy.
 
Only one box to delve into, that's the engine bay one with the fuseable links (master fuses) which if blown take out a few circuits at once.

I hope you lucky and find that's the only issue.
 
its not a disco but my neighbour borrowed my jump leads to start his lexus and got them on backwards, replaced all the fuses and was all ok. So hopefully thats all you will have to do!
 
Found some information on the spider unit, seems because I have the red key icon flashing it would mean something more towards alarm ecu, immobiliser not the spider but this could be wrong. Will go for fuses first and see where that leaves me.
 
Did you sort this?

when my battery went on backwards my spider went nuts also. Everything else seemed fine mind u.

Before we go too far down the road can you answer the following questions so I can help you:

1. What year is your Disco?

2. Does it have a 1 button or 2 button fob?

3. Is it manual or auto?

Discomark i did get it sorted, was all mainly various fuses, 100amp under the bonnet and a few under the dash. I've got everything working again apart from my cb and the electric mirrors for some reason.

96 Disco manual with 2 button fob, as i say I've got most of it sorted, also yet to replace the battery as it will not hold charge but it's still off the road mid bobtailing so will worry about that later. Cheers.
