I'v just re-read my post and realised the mot was incorrectly dated..... 31/01/2014 not 2013 :s

What have you done to your Landie today.

Today I've done nothing to the landy (planned its paint job) Yesterday however saw me get my new mobile soda blasting van and having some free time we decided the muddy, oil caked and sand riddles 300tdi lump we had would be ripe for some 'cleaning' action from this horrid thing to this...

Diff lock do I have it?

if it will engage forwards and back you have hi and low range, if you slot it into 'neutral' then push left and forward it should go into low rang diff lock and vice versa left and back for hi range diff lock. just incase you were trying to push it accross without going to the neutral position.

    Noise from clutch?

something i was unaware of until yesterday, the little tabs that go on the clutch for to hold the release bearing wear slightly causing just enough room for the plastic casing of the thrust bearing to turn more than it should, being plastic in time with the gap it can cause the bearing to spin...

Diff lock do I have it?

whine could possibly be rear diff. when engaging difflock, put it in neutral and take your foot off the clutch entirely. if it hasnt been engaged for a while it may be hard to move into position. id advise checking the fluid in transfer box and gearbox buddy

    Propshaft balancing

circlips i believe so you werent far off buddy. did you remove one of the balance wieghts whilst changing the uj's? and i suppose the quaestion is are you certain its prop vibration? could be front wheel balancing wieght fallen off or something daft.

What have you done to your Landie today.

yup, fortunatly had a reasonable condition valeo clutch on another engine, combined with a nippon branded thrust bearing it should be ok. I shall be sending this 'heavy duty' clutch back to paddocks as im not overly impressed with the quality, even if nothing comes of it it saves it sitting in...

What have you done to your Landie today.

got my landy back after the clutch decided at 150miles old it no longer wanted to live in my gearbox, it got together with the thrust bearing for some clutch fluid but in a gearbox brawl the thrust bearing ended up mashed to a pulp and on life support, it passed away when friction plate finally...

Well i made it.... Sort of :( Bit rubbish to find but got lucky and followed another landy in. Great reception from the marshalls. Within twenty minutes my clutch let go, dont know what it is, managed to limp home and ive dropped it at a friends garage to sort as ive had enough of the thing!

300tdi no power on start up

flywheels was at tdc buddy, pin used. verdict..... it appears that diaprahm in the fuel pump (the one you turn to tweak) was at fault, swapped it out to the one off the other engine and it runs right as rain. was a bit gutless so ive tweaked the star wheel and and smoke as well as the diaphram...

300tdi no power on start up

shall get a 9.5 in there then (is .5 of a mill really that bad?) i did hold the 22mm nut whilst tightening the 3x10mm's on the pump but if as you say it should be a 9.5 and its that sensitive i shall redo it, thankyou :o . tappets are set to the book at 0.20mm and it doesnt sound like a sewing...

300tdi no power on start up

storm, i stripped the whole of the front off the landy, to get into the cambelt area. wound her round to tdc at crank and timing line on cam was spot on, span it through four times by hand every time it ended up perfectly on the timing marks. checked the pump with a 9mm drift which was out so...
