There is a strange Whirring noise coming from the right hand side of the engine when I turn the ignition off. I lifted the bonnet and it seems to be coming from where the egr valve is. It doesn't make a noise when the engine is running so any clues ? It's a 06 TD4.

As I done the blanking operation I'd like to know whether it's worth keeping the original? I just spotted one on a website going for over £200.

Completing the egr blank and jet washing the manifold on Saturday I accidentally dropped the bolt that holds the manifold down. There are 8x10mm bolts on the top and 4x11mm nuts on the bottom with an 11mm bolt that is situated on the bottom left. This is the bolt I dropped and it's somewhere...

Well I done it and it went extremely well until I dropped the 11mm bolt and it fell inside the engine somewhere. I had my hand deep inside the engine and couldn't fine it. Does anyone know where I could get a replacement? The car is driving a lot nicer after a quick spin up and down the duel...

Is it possible to use the kit I've bought and use one of the round discs to blank of the pipe from the exhaust feed? Looking at this you tube clip around the 8 minute mark you can see what looks like the cooler (if thats what its called) attached to that bendy pipe . The picture of my engine...

So I bought this blanking kit http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232138661005 and I think I'm gonna have agro fitting it. I have to get to the cooler to get at 2 pipes and blank them off. I've just opened the bonnet and to get to the cooler looks grief. Think I'm out of my depth here and may have to go...

Drill a 6mm hole (quarter inch in old money) either end. Not everyone's answer though but it solved my problem

Can anyone confirm whether the new blanking valve will need a gasket? thanks
