Quick update, changed the PAS pump yesterday which greatly improved the steering but didn't fix the problem, still seems to be stiff in certain places as if assistance has stopped, got underneath and noticed there are marks on the swivel housing in a couple of places, will jack the front up...

Possible wheel bearing siezing up?

when you jack up the wheels is the left side harder to turn by hand than the right?

no to both, does it pull all the time or just when you brake?

Got the same sort of problem with mine, think it's a U/J on the column locking up, going to be looking at it in a couple of weeks time, will report back on what I find.

Had the same on my car, the bushes were completely shagged, the inner steel part of the bush was no longer attached to the rubber, one thing that certainly didn't happen was the brakes pulling, could it be that a wheel bearing was also faulty affecting the brakes?

Would be a good cause of vibration when braking but not pulling.
