    Series 3 Leaks!

Those top covers usually have a cork gasket, personally I'd use a bit of RTV sealant once the mating services are nice & clean

    Injector pump issues

Where the pipe from the filter goes into the injector pump there is a very fine brass mesh filter, might be blocked.

    are these the right parts??????

They are the wrong parts mate, look like gearbox bits to me........your castellated nut should still gave six edges, spacers should be a neat fit and snap ring a tight fit

    Series 3 Leaks!

    Could be a TORO??

Weber 34 ich - Problems running rich

Could be that is what has been "sooting" your plugs though......

Weber 34 ich - Problems running rich

If your breather has been going into the carb bas plate then you would be sucking all sorts of crap into the engine. That outlet on the carb base plate is for the vacuum pipe from the servo. Have you been using a lot of oil by any chance??

    Series 3 Leaks!

Have a look on eBay for overdrive gasket kits, doesn't look like a fairly OD to me though?? Is it a PTO drive??

Front downpipe of series 3 needs replacing

If you've got brass nuts they shouldn't t be too bad as brass does not rust. As previous poster have said use penetrating fluid & heat and if you haven't got a socket set then invest in one & some extension bars, machinemart/Clarke's stuff is ok for diy. Personally I've never had a problem with...

    Fairey overdrive technical question.

TBH grinding and whining noises from an overdrive could be from pretty much anywhere.......they're not known for their silent running qualities.........

    Series III Agreed value insurance?

I'm with Heritage and have an agreed valuation. One of my Land Rovers was stolen & burnt out last year and the insurance was sorted really quickly and painlessly, would recommend them.

    Pedal Linkage

Just a drop of engine oil on each of the pivots every time you lift the bonnet.....

Other Series body/Disco1 chassis & running gear.

It is doable and not that difficult if you have a decent sized and reasonably well equipped workshop & you know how to use the tools. You have two choices in essence, either make a 100" using the standard length chassis or cut the chassis down to 88". You will also need to add series outriggers...

    Transfer box sump gasket

Threadlock wont stop it leaking past the bolt heads as you describe, use a bead of RTV sealant.

Series 3 Wiring in cigarette lighter socket for sat nav.

I know no one has said they will do it BUT a quick reminder to others who may want to, IF you fit one of those multisocket things with USB sockets included make sure you wire it to a switched live and not a permanent live otherwise you will have flat battery issues. The USB sockets are...

    Arms not long enough

As mentioned earlier, it's the only useful thing about freewheeling hubs:D

    Series 3 Leaky roof

So long as you use blind head rivets you should be ok.

Series 3 3/4 or full length stick set?

That must be an awful life, I don't think I could do it:D
  18. P

Series 3 Who can walk me through setting the valves?

IIRC it's a 1" whitworth BUT you should manage with around a 43mm socket. Have you got a cranking handle? You can use that to turn the engine over.

    Series 3 Radiator issue...

A proper pressure test will tell you straight away where the leak is coming from, probably a hose joint somewhere or possibly a core plug but like I said you could change loads of things until you find out what it is.

    Series 3 Radiator issue...

Sounds like a pressure test may be useful, whereabouts are you?? Just noticed it says Ireland on your thingy. You should be able to get a local garage to do it and you will find out very quickly if you have a leak or if it's a head gasket issue....changing stuff in the hope you will sort it is...
