What did you do with your Range Rover today

I replaced my steel brake lines with copper for the rear axle. Filthy job, but actually wasn't anywhere near as difficult or as time-consuming as I had expected. :)

    Servicing my 2.5 DSE

The Rangey is a great vehicle to work on, as there's generally plenty of space around everything compared with other vehicles. Some tips: Make sure you get the correct oil filter. I think yours will be the alloy tops (as opposed to the plastic tops on later models) If you're changing the...

    Most money from a vehicle

It depends how much you value your time. If you spend more than 9 minutes for each additional £1 received by breaking it, then you're working for less than minimum wage.

Rear Height Sensor Nut Thread Size

From memory, it was an M5 flange nut, but might have been M6. Edit: I just checked, it's definitely M5

    engine disabled

+1 I had similar issues with mine for a while - completely disappeared after replacing the keyfob battery. Island 4x4 do a keyfob repair kit which has battery, replacement cover, o-ring and replacement buttons for the price of a couple of beers.

    Range Rover P38 Oil Leak

I'm not sure why you would use a vacuum pump rather than removing the sump drain plug, but that's beside the point. Did you definitely use the correct oil filter, replace the o-ring on the cap, and ensure it was properly tightened again? It's more likely to be a leak from around your oil...

    P38 Drivers window not working

I don't think Lazy Locking will work if the window isn't set.

    Wheel change

If they are P38 or Disco 2 wheels they should go straight on. (ie if your 27mm wheel wrench fits, then you should be ok) If they've come from an L322 or Sport, you'll need spigot rings and new style wheel nuts.

    Best place to buy paint?

I've done a couple of touch-up jobs on mine using java black from Halfords and been happy with the results.

    New Exhaust.

Will be interesting to see how you get on with the fuel consumption. I changed my middle box a couple of weeks ago. Usually I get around 400 - 440 miles to a tank of diesel, but I've filled up twice since replacing the exhaust and got over 500 miles per tank both times. I did an oil change at...

Holes where the light guards were!

Indeed I do still have the pics... attached below. I never did take any pics of the final result - I might get a chance to take some at the weekend when I'm back home. The colour match was fine, cost me a couple of days and a few quid from Halfords.

How much does a P38 weigh?

    Between 2,090kg (4.0 Manual) to 2,130kg (2.5 Diesel Auto)

    That bl@@dy rubber thing

^^^What he said. Don't use silicone based cleaners on your dash if you want the mat to stay put. Mine doesn't move at all, I just give the dash a wipe down with a damp microfibre cloth once a week to keep it clean.

    cutting out at speed

Mine occasionally does exactly this, and has stalled a couple of times when disengaging cruise control (both times sprang back in to life once it had coasted down to about 30mph), so I'll be interested in what might cause this. I simply stopped using cruise control for now, but I do see the...

    2.5 dse starting problem

Do a search of the Range Rover sub-forum for the following: Air in the fuel line In-tank fuel pump (fuel sender / fuel lifter) Leak-off pipes (spill-off pipes) Glow plugs (I assume you replaced with new plugs?) Low battery Also, the DSE is extremely unforgiving of a worn-out battery. Many...

I bought a load of Castrol GTX 10w40 from Asda Direct last week at £12 per 4 litres B&Q (yes, B&Q) do Castrol ATF TQ DIII at a fairly competitive price - from memory around the £8 per litre mark - although I bought mine at around £60 for 12l from Broughton Lubricants last time: Broughton...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Replaced rear height sensor. Much improved, seems able to make it's mind up about the rear left height now :)
