Hi all....Went out in my Rangie today, let window down to enjoy the sunshine. Got to my destination and when I went to let the window back up, nothing...
Message center just said RHF window not set. Took off the door card and checked wiring and plugs/connectors at outstation. Wiggled wires and pressed button on center console to see if a loose connection or broken wire was at fault but, no joy. I then drilled out the rivets and took out the window regulator, took the motor off and connected it directly to a spare battery. It worked perfect in both directions.....Stumped now. Can anyone confirm if these outstations are known to give trouble. I've had central locking issues with the drivers door in the last few days. They lock and unlock themselves at will but the drivers door actuator seems to be causing the problem....when I press the fob the latch raises with a ratcheting action and it blew fuses the other day....

Thanks for any help in advance.

It's a bit late now but do you have lazy locking? I had a similar problem with my passenger window but closed it with the lazy feature which also proved that it was the switch.
A quick strip and squirt and I was a happy man. :D

Hi lads....Thanks for the fast reply.

OK, forgive my ignorance here but what exactly is lazy locking????

I've had an issue with locking where the latch seems to cycle a few times before

it unlocks. As said before it's like a rapid ratcheting on the drivers door after

the latch rises before it settles. All locks also lock and unlock at will once I gain

access before eventually settling down. The window issue only happened today.

The fact that I get the window not set message would lead me to believe that

the console switch is functioning properly.....

Do outstations fail with these symptoms?

Thanks again for the help guys.

Lazy Locking is if you hold the lock button down on the fob, the windows and sunroof will close automatically....the windows need to be set for this to happen.

Yes Outstations do fail, and that could certainly be the cause!

Thanks again all. I will try and borrow a good outstation to swap out to see if

it's the problem.

Just looked on the bay for outstations and they seem cheap enough

One question though, can anyone tell me what is the difference between a high

level and a low level outstation????

Thanks for the help everyone.

If you have ignore this but if not, check the wiring in the gap between the door and A pillar inside the trunking.
Try the window with door open and shut to see if moving these wires make it work.
had this very issue last week on a friends p38.
Worth a try before you buy.:)

Hi Rodntod.....Yes, tried that a few times to no avail. I did however get 1 little

kick from motor while trying that but, no matter how hard I tried to get it to

happen again, I couldn't. I'll try and remove the sheating to have a visual

inspection of the door loom. I've now bought a replacement outstation so if it

is a wiring fault, it'll be no harm having a spare.

Thanks everyone. I'll post back with solution.....
