Hi Biolandy, Best if you use a torch and a mirror to see the turbo blades. I think some play is normal. You should be able to reach them. Check they turn but dont spin them too much.

Hi Shocker, Glad to see your still with us :D Something I read ages ago about anti-foaming agents being silicone and they dont combust and cause engine problems over time. I spent about £1000 on this engine to get it right so dont want to risk cocking it up :doh:

Just been in my local Morrisons and they,re doing the 5 litre bottles of ktc veg oil for £5. For some reason it wasn't in the own brand oil section with the other more expensive oils, but was at the back of the shop. Its got the anti foaming stuff in it but plenty seem to use it without problems.

Have you checked the turbo ? Rev the engine and feel if the pipes go firm , take the elbow pipe off and check the blades are intact on turbo and moving free. Only takes two minutes :confused:

Dont know anything about v8,s but does the car have a lambda sensor ? If they are not working it will cause all sorts of fuelling problems and low mpg.

A few years ago we had a debate about the anti-foaming additives in vegetable oil and the verdict seemed to be to stay away from the stuff and only use 100 % pure oil. The reason was suggested that it contains silicone that does not burn in the combustion process and over time would cause nasty...

Are you sure ? I went in asda the other day and it was back up to £1.38 for a litre vegetable oil. They do the ktc stuff in some asda for £16.00 ,15 litres but its got anti-foaming **** in it , so dont fancy using it.
