Hi all

did a 6 month service on my disco yesterday, noticed the new oil filter did not match the old one, it is shorter about 4" tall instead of the old one being about 5", it also has some sort of non-return valve as i couldnt prime it with oil like i usually do.

I think it was a UFI filter, the only code i can see on the box was AEU214L.

Should i get another or leave it??

Dave

Just did mine today along with the fuel filter.

I primed the fuel filter with injeector cleaning fluid but didn't bother priming the oil filter - Should I have?

Getting the **** off withoutt jizzing fecking oil everywhere - any suggestions????

Nah, it up to you, I just do it cos it stops starvation duringthe first few seconds of starting while the pump fills the empty filter can.

But what about the oil all over yer diff and other roddy bits directly underneath the filter - It took me longer to wash down the drive than it took me to change the oil!!!!!

Next time I shall do it on the moor somewhere

Nope, I just bung some rags on the diff housing and get the damn thing off as quick as poss and drop it in a bowl below. Got really messy when I had to stuff a screwdriver through the can to get it undone:mad:

Just leave a little bit unfilled so it don't slop when spinning it back on, usually oil all over the place anyway by then:eek::eek:

the bigger the oil filter the more oil you have in the system, just make sure you put some oil on the seal as it makes it easier to remove next time.

New filter came today, had the part number on it this Tina and was bigger again, also didn't have the valve thingy inside it so I changed them over, normal service is resumed :)
