    Vented front discs

Do not alter manufacturers spec unless you have a good reason to do so, the standard system is fine for normal driving. If you decide otherwise get it checked out by someone who knows what they are doing, my eyes are still sore from reading the last "I upgraded my brakes thread"! regards Dave

it just gets better and better

You will need to find out what thickness of head gasket you have, normaly indicated by 'teeth' or 'notches' in the gasket itself. Tell the guy at the machine shop who is skimming your head and he will give you a gasket sized to suit the amount machined off. Also try and get a composite gasket...

    Pushrod + slave....

It is very easy to test the master/slave cylinder and get an indication of whether it's working or not. Just push a bolt into the slave cylinder where the push rod goes and using a lagging jubille clip (large/flexible) I tightned this around the slave cylinder body and across the top of the...

    Disco 1 sill trim

You can also get these with holes to take a high lift jack with adaptor, they are too close the the body to try and jack without the adaptor IMHO. regards Dave

    Disco heater bodge?

Yep pre 94 models you need to pull out the centre console (radio first), then two screws at the bottom of the radio slot, two screws under rubber mat ahead of gear sticks, window switch panel unclip and put to one side no need to take wires of, another below window switch panel, 4 screws in the...

    heater motor

If the design is the same as the earlier Disco's then the bearing in the motor could be failing, this allows the fan (similar to the wheel in a hamster cage) to tip and catch the side of the housing? Only a thought, have you had any sqeaking noises when the fan is slowing down for example when...

    Over heating problem

It is possible but the fan cowl gets in the way of the hoses and the fan cowl fouls on the fan during removal, unless the one you worked on had no cowling? Other than that I could be wrong but then I have not had a cowl/vc fan on mine for over two years, let us know how you get on it will then...

    Disco 1 Vented Disc Upgrade

No but I have made braking modifications. During competition use I experienced some brake fade and as the standard disc's/pads/fluid was good I changed the standard vented discs to crossdrilled and grooved at the front, at the rear the disc's were also changed to a similar pattern. The brake...

From all that I would say the synchromesh is knackered, it seems a lot of the problems with these gearboxes is the fact they get filled with EP80/90 which whilst this is normal on MOST manual gearboxes the LT77 uses auto transmission fluid! Worth draining and refilling as mentioned earlier...

    Over heating problem

I think you can pick up a new one for about £90.00. Fitting a seconhand unit which might save you money could turn out to be knackered and blocked anyway. This would not be so bad if it did not steer you into thinking you now have a good rad and you start looking elsewhere for the problem and...

    Disco 1 Vented Disc Upgrade

The idea of fitting 4 pot calipers in place of 'normal' twin ones was a trick we used on SD1 Rovers (god I really am old) anyway we would upgrade the 2600 engine output/performance along with the brake upgrade. We investigated the upgrade with Rover mechanics ect and then went ahead with the...

With the engine at idle can you press the clutch down and select first gear without a crunch? Try again with reverse, same answer? If no then there is a chance the clutch is not 'clearing' i.e. needs bleeding, problems with master/slave cylinders, pipe/damper issues, pressure plate, clutch...
