I was driving along a dry river bed and......

I purchased the Disco to get out into the campo (wild countryside) at weekends and to get involved in some challenge events and the car pretty much wiped the floor with everything they had over here in the first few events we competed in, I then hurt myself whilst putting in a new clutch...

Like the Clutch cable snapped - Only its an Auto !

Well sudden fluid loss should have been evident if that was the issue and I know it was not, the selector lever coming disconnected and then dropping into nuetral....well I have seen that before but not with the dash lights flashing, I would read through the list the guys on here have given you...

Like the Clutch cable snapped - Only its an Auto !

You don't say what you were doing when the fault occured. Was the car parked for a length of time after driving perfectly and you started it up and selected 'D' and nothing happened, ooooor was you in 'd' and driving along and just lost drive ect? Without wishing to be the bringer of doom...

    Xfer box

They can have a tendency to whine however, try swapping your tyres around I have often found the wear pattern can set up a whine at certain speeds. Differentials can aso whine with the sound travelling up the props confusing it's origin, you could try running around with one of the propshafts...

    Brake Disc Preference?

Didn't this subject get done to death a few months back? Despite the 200tdi having vented discs they were lacking but ONLY when used in competitions and pushed real hard in a hot climate. If you are driving normally I would be happy with the stock system, JMHO. regards Dave

any help or assistance with fitting 2inch lift?

My 2" lift brought with it very slight vibes from the front end, fitted a 'double cardon' propshaft and now all is well. BTW some Disco's have a 'damper' on the front axle (looks like a cast iron wheel next to the diff). Taking this off can also bring vibes as well, I tried it after fitting a...

I have a dashpod that sits on to of the dash, this has the radio/cd, three air loocker switches and the CB. I put three gauges in place of the original radio. I know I know, this thread is useless without pics! http://www.landyzone.co.uk/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=10677...

    Britpart/****part water pump

IMHO apart from the poor quality of these pumps another factor is the belt on the 200tdi has to be get quite tight because it is driving the water pump, power steering pumps and the alternator (via PSP, this adds up to quite a load and the belt will slip and be noisey the moment it gets even...
