    just bought a freelander

You can either live with it as is, and all your mates will think your nuts - especially if you lend it to them with a 'full tank' lol! Or I do have a sender in the shed, if that is the fault.

    1995 300Tdi diffiucult to start

As above, check the leak off pipes. The 300 engine cover wears these through. Also make sure all your fuel delivery pipes are tight, and that you havn't put a pin-hole in with a jubilee clip or similar. You have air getting in somewhere! When you leave it, the diesel trickles back down the...

    starting problem freelander 1

On petrol models, check the king lead, they are a weak point as the rub on the airbox - poor design! Cats are quite weak too - so expect to need a replacement come MOT time if you have been cranking over - only £60 though!

    Mig welder help

Practice first, it should sound like frying eggs! Make sure old and new metal is clean, just run the grinder over. Be confident when welding. When underneath wear some gaunlets, and do your collar up! Nothing worse that smacking your head on the chassis when you get a tickler down your top!

    ..is it a bitza..???

I have seen this on military vehicles - which i find a bit confusing, as they have release papers etc and though built in say 1970, they are given a first reg plate of the year released. I would have thought, the dvla would give an age related number. Having said that, this is so far past a...

    cb radio

Just a question...when you said digital, i hope you meant a digital display? The new digital two ways require licences, they run on the same frequency as taxis/emergency services etc - to run one privately would cost £200 licence fee. These will have a good dozen or so numbered buttons on, so...

    just bought a freelander

There are different types, but only where the electrics are concerned! I would suggest it is earthing somewhere, this may be in the loom or even on the pump itself if someone has changed the pump head. To explain that, some had round pin connectors, some had flat pin connectors. The pumps are...

    won't start after head gasket

Check around the head and look for tiny water leaks - if you didn't skim the head, it may be why if it is warped in any way - which if the gasket had 'Gone' (overheated) then it most likely had been warped. You will need to bleed the fuel system before she will run, if everything else is fine.

    Advice Needed Death Wobble/Vibrate!!

front prop is prone to seizure, as it seems that for some reason, they miss a grease nipple on one U/J. It doesn't hit on or off road, so why use a screw instead i will never know! Anyway, check that the U/J's are cold next time you go for a drive, they shopuld be if moving ok. If warm, then...

    stolen landy - uncommon colour??

Be prepared for costs though - just a warning, as you will have to pay the £105 release fee plus around £12-28 storage1 One of the things that is never fair when you have been a victim! Glad to see you got it back though - I had a yard of lorries disappear one night, never to be seen again -...

    More rust!

Cut it out and weld it up! Only way - or you will end up like this! Then you will have dodgy electrics, as all the electrics/relays are behind!

Keep our 300tdi or swap for earlier td5

I bought my 300 from a guy who had replaced it with a TD5 - reckons it was the worst mistake he made! He had the usual electrical problems with it, but the water leaks were starting to wear on him - like a wet groin when you went round a corner! It had been back to landy several times, and in...

    diesel fuel gelling

If you fill your tank, then put £2 of petrol in, that usually does the job! You buy for fuel from a supermarket by any chance? This is cheaper fuel as it has no additives! In fact, if you have a moped, it will kill it- fast! lol!

    300tdi reliability

There is always lots of banter between jap owners and landy owners - it is all done in good taste so take no notice!! Yes, many japs are more reliable than a landrover BUT and it is a big BUT! You will pay 10-20 times LESS for your parts, than they will for theres! Granted, you may need them...
