Suggest you clean and check the small Lucar connection to the starter motor. Small single (brown?) wire next to the gurt big battery connection under the front right hand side of the engine.

Suggest you get yourself a copy of Rave if you haven't already. The anti roll bar link (the thin bar with the joint at each end) should be attached to the axle not waggling about in the breeze.

Looking at easy fixes; it might be worth checking the small wire on the starter motor is connected properly. It's called the Lucar connector in Rave, brown lead with a red trace.

So to complete the story: On Saturday morning we pulled up in the local fuel station mini supermarket, tried to restart the Disco and whilst I had lights, fuel, could hear the fuel pump and various relays clicking and whirring the starter motor wasn't turning over. Turned it all off and on again...
