I have got as far as this but how do I get the pump out ? (the belt is loose by the way). Do I get the pulley wheel off the pump assembly - and if so how? Shall I use some PlusGas to release the wheel from the pump. Or can I tap the whole thing to loosen then lift out? All advice gratefully...

    EAS software & Windows7

The Serial to USB2 adapter needs a special driver for Windows 7. I only found this after some trying  Note: this is NOT the one listed on the support site as working with Win 7 (and other versions) Have received the updated driver from Logilink tech support & seems to work fine -...

    P38 questions.!!

To check the bags themselves it not that easy unless you are able to get underneath & look for cracks etc. but some are just OK so unless you know what to look for dont worry. But you should check that it works from inside the car. In the middle of the dash there is a rocker switch to raise or...

    Just a question

So it sounds as though shocks it is. When you fit your new ones the difference will be amazing then, if you have problems on the motorway curves at 70 ! Mine is OK to fling around corners on country lanes so you have a treat in store. And to top it off a furry dice - it's got to be a real...

    Just a question

agree with gtland. This definitely does not sound right. I have had 2 Discos in the past & my P38 DSE is totally different in corners. Much faster & more stable & tracks bends well, not that different from many saloon cars and even better than some. It sound as though some other folk here...

few wee niggles, need some advice please

I think the book indicated air con problem. I have heard that Autoglass do a good re-gassing service that guarantees to work or no charge so this should check it out, either fix it or identify a leak perhaps. Mine is a bit fussy when engaging low. I have stop stop, put on handbrake, engage...

P38 2.5 deisel auto 1998 where is gearbox filler

According to RAVE the filler is near the top front of the gearbox sump (the wider end), drain at the bottom. But on mine this is where the gearbox dipstick pipe is attached ! I can't find a filler hole anywhere. To add to the fun there appeared to be no oil on the dipstick (yes I did follow...

2.5dse head gasket change - help please !

If the engine was at TDC with the front cam lobes up (more or less), actually more of a V shape, and you then locked the flywheel in place it shouldn't matter. The important thing is that the engine wont turn and the cam will be replaced in the same position. The sprocket just bolts on the end...

2.5dse head gasket change - help please !

Job done but it took ages due to freezing weather & unheated garage - also... the head was cracked :-( Got the thing to bit & gasket was perfect, so took head to a local place (Swindon) who pressure tested & confirmed cracked & unrepairable. Pressure test was about £80. But I found a place on...

    p38 hic- up

Try some diesel injector cleaner - lots of choice in Halfords, might stop the smoking as well with a bit of luck. In my case I also had some contamination (water) in the fuel causing this 'misfire' finally completely cured by another additive - Wynns Dry Fuel , again from Halfords. Good luck :)

Argh...Can't get an answer, wot PSI box?

I have the Powerbox 2 from Rimmer Bros. Big power gains but only tested MPG today. MPG tested om M4 between Jct 14 - 18 and back. Steady indicated 75(ish) set cruise control & reset computer readout. Did this a few times in the journey there & back as the display seems to show average since...

Argh...Can't get an answer, wot PSI box?

enery8 Yes, big difference in torque. Don't know about BHP as it is more difficult to detect. But on my automatic the extra torque is obvious. Before it would 'reach' 30 mph but with a bit of clattering, now if the revs reach 2500 it launches forward - easy to get caught speeding. The other...
