Yep. They have spacers on but it'll be down to where the LR technician drilled the holes for the lugs as to where they sit when ever they were fitted. Both of mine touch the lenses on the side that they fit into the grill, although I had to modify the NS one a couple of weeks ago as the lugs had both snapped off. That one now sits with clearance from the lense.

So I started the job before seeing the advice above but I managed to drill off the heads without melting the plastic. I drilled a little bit at a time, taking advantage of the brisk wind to cool the bolts. I then managed to manipulate the rivnuts out of the wings carefully as there is just enough give in the plastic. Anyway, the polishing is not perfect as the lenses have some fairly deep marks due to the guards rubbing over time, but they look great and the difference in performance is staggering. Guards will be refitted on friday when I've had chance to get some stainless allen bolts, nuts and washers.
Well done getting them off.
I saw an "expert" on Pootube using fine grit wet and dry sandpaper on headlight lenses followed by lacquer but I've no idea how long it lasted after, he claimed years of people using product to clean them made them worse. I suspect that the lacquer would need to have a UV block but I don't know any that do.
Please note the inverted comma's around the word expert! ;)

Add some spacers to suit, cut a plasticky tube down ....

Even Halfrauds sell a UV block spray ...

I’ve done this.
800 grit wet n dry, work your up from there. They will still look cloudy, then use a clear coat on top and voila.

That’s all the ‘kits’ are basically

Gotta love LR ownership. Just driven back from a successful retest and the car celebrates by doing this in the pouring rain...

But hey, it gave you the drivers side!!
That'll be the wiper linkage has let go with a worn ball housing.

Two options. Buy new rods with ball housing. Or buy fix it clips to hold the old one together.

Either works well and solves problem.

Nope, it gave me the passenger side! The driver's arm stopped at the up position and the passenger side kept going! Clips were ordered from the car park I was sitting in straight after my post this morning so hopefully they'll arrive tomorrow. To be honest I've been expecting this to happen at some point given the mileage of the car and the seemingly near constant wet weather we've had. I should have already got the clips really in readiness!

Daughter brought my old F1 over so I could service it for her… I ordered the parts last week from AF.
Pleased to see it’s not leaking anything, and still running sweet.
Oil and filters changes.

She stopped for a bite to eat and left, but seems to have forgotten to pay the parts 🙄
Again!

Mine's the opposite, always buys the parts for me in advance.... bucket, sponge etc.

Clips will be fine. I had them on mine for 3 year, and they were still working fine when I sold it. Grease the ball and socket, to minimise additional wear. ;)

Giving the Sport TD4 a once over before MOT.
All looks fine underneath. Oil leak is fixed.
But, looked at the bolts holding the wheel arch fuel pump in. I thought, bet they'd never unscrew. I was right. One freed with wd40, one turned and the rivnut in the chassis just went round.

Thinking this would be a big headache later, I drilled the head off, carefully ground the edge of the old rivnut off and punched it out.
Replaced rivnut and all bolts with stainless...

Should make a filter and pump change a bit easier later on !

Whoever put the pump there in the design needs serious torture !!

After fitting the Hifly Super2000's and getting the F1 through its WOF recheck, I took it for a blast last night after work out to Twilight Golf then home afterwards. 26km drive out on the open road and the car/tyres looked to be performing well.

Booked it in for alignment and bought a fresh pair of front driveshafts for it, because it's my car and if everyone else gets to be wrong about what's up with it (including JLR) then I do too

After suddenly getting some lovely loud ‘clunking’ noises from the front o/s on every large bump yesterday, I’m now looking at front suspension options for him.
I’ve not jacked it up and looked yet, but from the noticeable slump on that corner, I suspect either the strut or spring has reached end of life.

Still, shiny new bits are always good for my FL. So, looks like a pair of struts/springs etc., and new drop links are in order.

Anyone know a decent supplier of ‘made-up’ ones, to save the hassle of spring compression tools…?
(Ones that aren’t made of chineseium and treacle, nor ones that take 2 weeks to arrive!)

Well I found the problem - guess what I’m doing this weekend!
