There are a couple of people now who have crashed into it. Not a mark on the Rangie. Slight mark on the tow-bar. Severe damage to their own cars.
This is encouraging, I am waiting for fine/warm/dry weather to fit mine. It is apparently an LR original and the towball and swan-neck are monstrous. Mine (towball) seems to be bolted in, I thought that they were removable and were to be stored in the boot with the wheel-changing tools. Maybe someone just decided a bolt was a better option for them.
Yeah, it is removable but mine is so rusted in place it is going nowhere!

Not that I ever want to remove the swan neck.
Mine is yet to be fitted and it had occurred to me to park close to the annoying buggers that park opposite my driveway and reverse up in access mode and slip the towball under their front bumper, then raise it up a tad.It's for pushing down on the front of cars parked to close behind you

No, just a PITA getting dirty putting it back in place each time. And it does protect the bumper well. Not that the bumper needs protecting. Whoever designed that bumper clearly was prepared to be shunted from behind. :-/

I knocked my garden wall with the rear bumper corner when I first had my P38. The bricks are cracked, bumper has couple small gouges. Made a thump too.
@DanClarke don't wear your EAS, when you have a towball just get a chain with hook and a shackle in boot - surprising what these things can pull from trees to people broken down - every car has tow eye front and back

Yep. Same principle with winching. Hence winching blankets, slow and steady. Gently Bentley does it.

I would not advise using the tow eyes on a P38 to pull anything of significant weight. If you plan off-roading a lot, you will need dedicated recovery points fitted or your tow eyes will rip out. If it's the neighbours fiesta on your drive, no worries @DanClarke
I do like Ronny Dahl. He can babble a bit but is genuine

I've pulled a loaded 34 tonne artic that had put the drive wheels in the ditch, low range and it came out with just a bit of tyre scrabbling on the gravel road surface.
