Depends on whether you have a tow bar, if not, one at the front and one at the back sounds like a plan :D:D

Poor Dave, I would help you, but the blind leading the blind comes to mind

No tow bar so its ok then:D

Just remembered did you try the disconnecting one of the indicators at a time and seeing if the others worked properly. Then at least you might know which is causing the problem. And those earth things too.

I think I remembered that right from what Neil said the other night

The indicators at the rear work fine when the headlights are off but the front left hand side and side light don't work at all (but the lower light flashes) If I indicate left with the headlights on that's ok at the rear too, but when I indicate right both rear indicators flash:confused:

either the wires are going to wrong light fitting or indicator has poor earth, new light fittings are cheap google rtc5013 surprisingly britpart ones are as good as any

The lights are new fittings JM its the flipping wiring that's a nightmare:eek::rolleyes:

Did they get rid of the household connections when they had Dave in, can't remember whether it was on your list of things they did.

If not they might be causing the problem, I don't think household electrics like water and damp.

:hysterically_laughi What do you think?...no wiring was on the list-but they've just secured the wiring not fixed it:rolleyes:

Oh dear , trouble is there was so much wrong its hard to remember what it all was.

Did you arrange for Neil to do the wiring, or was that my imagination.

I never held out any hope that they would sort out the wiring properly but was more concerned that it wasn't dangling all over the engine etc

I am just waiting for Neil to get some free time, he's busy and I said Ill just work around when he is available:D

Have you checked what like inside the light units? I have seen on occasion the screws holding the lense on to the unit can be over tightened causing the lense to crack slightly allowing water in. It then either knackers up the bulb holder or works it's way in to the wiring. Can't be certain that scenario would present the issues you are having but for the sake of 2 easy to get to screws it's worth a look. If I remember right, you can get either the units on their own or the units with 6 or so inches of wire included. Used to shift a lot of them when I was working the parts department!

I am pretty certain the lights themselves are ok, I have taken them off and checked them..the fact that the wiring has been done with domestic connectors and done very badly is more the issue I think:rolleyes:

while domestic connectors are not really professional for the situation, they will work.
as you say tho, done badly may be the issue.
its finding the bad bit that's gonna be interesting.
compounded by the fact theres probably morw than one bad bit!

its still an earth issue, an i'll put a pint of Guinness on that!

Astons are nice, not so keen on the newer stuff, would like an old V8 Vantage, when it was still all square and bulky, none of this curvy wurvy fish face stuff nowadays

I concur! Especially a nineties version - the one with the 5.3 litre V8 with TWO, yes TWO superchargers .ooooh yeess! Proper blood-curdling, ears back, fangs out sound :mad2:

Yeah even with the best connectors in the world, if done badly it still going to be a problem. Hope you get it sorted without too much of a headache.

And should they be tight or have a bit of movement

A bit of movement so they can swing. As soon as you get a couple of tonnes through a rope on them they will pivot on the bolts anyway, but no real point in having them tight against the chassis rails.

it wont be sarah's headache
:p

Haha :p I made my missus print out, study and understand a wiring diagram for the car she is restoring. Totally expected her to give up after a few minutes but she stuck at it for literally days until she got it sussed, well impressed!

mate our family barby was round the cast iron top of the range barby, that my father won on getting top marks on his coarse on landrover servicing and repairs. dad gave man the manuals she read them and filled in the questions ( dad in the pub) he won pmsl

Dave has been at Neils again today, for the wiring doing

I'm sure Neil and Sarah will be on later with the pics, but you have never seen such a mess :rolleyes: Neil kept finding random wires and connectors which weren't connected to anything at all :confused::confused:

Poor Neil has spent all day getting the lights and indicators working. The good news is, they are all working now, even the reversing light which was not even connected before :D:D:D

Sarah has spent all day hitting a lump of metal with a hammer :der::D:D:D
