So I finally got round to doing the head gaskets on my P reg 4.0l p38.

Well, the excitement of that first turn of the key was met with - nothing! A few clicks of relays can be heard but nothing else when trying to start.

The battery has obviously been off for a fair while and i'm wondering if i've lost some kind of sync with the becm??

When the ignition key is turned to position 2, all the lights illuminate and the check engine light stays illuminated, is this right?

Any ideas or suggestions welcomed.

Thanks

I don't want to insult you, but did you check the battery has charge ? If it has been disconnected for a while it could have a dead cell, or simply be a bit flat.

If the check engine light is on, the BeCM still has connection. I'm sure you would have noticed this... but does it say engine disabled on the message centre? The most common cause of not starting is that it doesn't want to.
