Did you go across the straight over the road, down the gravel track to the fork in the road(bridalway & by way through the sheep field)? Normally the grass is long & hides the ruts
If you mean this one then yes, it's properly overgrown and hardly recogniseable as a byway.

Just at the base of barbury you can drop down a lane. This is on a seasonal TRO like rest of the sections.
You can also go past the horse yards which is now graded.went down this way a few years ago on recovery for a LZ member who was stuck :)

Need any info on any lanes in that area?
This one? It is proper rutted at the bottom of the hill, you would need a fairly modified vehicle to get through them. Lot of off piste action, reasonably confident that the TRO is also getting ignored. I have a fairly good list of lanes in the area, although the non scratchy lanes have recently changed into fairly scratchy lanes.

Most of the lanes I use are like this. I enjoy finding lanes that people don’t use.park the landy in a secluded place & get the bike/dog out & have a peddle. Easier to get a bike out a ditch than a landy. Once I have confirmed it’s safe I then drive with friends, sometimes alone….. don’t worry been doing this for years & know when to reverse
