Cheers rob watching that now not far at all.
Give him a bell and go and have a look at it first Dan, I've learned from experience that these things are never as described. The last one I bought was supposedly mot'd but there's no way it would've passed one

Sell all the landys n get a cj drop a 300"tdi in it then you have your jeep with land rovers unreliability. Sortes

Once you've driven one with a 5.9 v8 that had a few hundred quid of upgrades done to it nothing else and certainly not a diesel would do

I have said defender

It's alright and has the usual tratter niggles ie wet leg, not particularly quiet and my future plans were galv chassis, bulkhead new doors and fairly soon a discovery transfer box.
Because I'm to tight and don't want to spend £100 on just a transfer box my plan was to buy a mot failure Disco and strip it sell off the bits and effectively get the transfer box for free. So I've just purchased this for £510 off ebay. View attachment 118755

I've just been to pay the guy and it looks rock solid and way to good to break. In fact I'll be taking it straight for its mot the day I collect it.
I'm also slowly doing up a 2a in theory to sell once it's done as I thought my kids would never be seen dead in a land rover, but evidently my youngest wouldn't mind driving the 2a if we keep it.

And so my dilemma..
Sell the Disco for the cash, do up the series to give me the funds to sort the defender and buy a kids run around or...
Sell my defender and keep the discovery and use the cash to sort the series and keep it.
I like having the ability to chuck basically anything in the back which would wreck the Disco and I couldn't justify keeping the defender and a series as they are pretty much the same.
Unlike some people a defender isn't my dream car sorry

Good or bad shed me some light of your endless wisdom
Get rid of the Disco they're gay. Julian Clary owns one.

easy to work on don't need to polish them don't need to worry about a few dents I have owned mine 27 years used to bump start hgv and help pull back thrown tracks on slews love the look of them

Bit early to tell yet depends on fuel economy and the like but at the mo it stands a chance.
That will brake more than your tratter. No would be nice to use a 2a for a daily.

If selling my tratter means I can keep my 2a once it's restored then the tratter is history :p

Did you get wot you wanted ?? £wise ??
I think so, it was comparable to ones I've seen on ebay and gumtree and I've no sellers fees to pay. It was the friend of someone I was talking to in the queue at craddocks last week. 17 year old lad who's always wanted one. Got to crack on with my 2a now so I've got something loud and unrefined to drive again :p

I think all tratters and their owners should be on a tag. Just saying.
Couldn't agree more, unfortunately when I see people listing on here that theirs has been nicked and they haven't bothered fitting one then I have no sympathy. Surly defender owners know how many are stolen?

Anyway as I no longer own a tratter then it's no longer a problem, I very rarely locked it so I knew I wouldn't bother with wheel and pedal locks:oops:

Do you share the same viewpoint on
  • health issues (smoking, cancers, heart conditions)
  • Work issues (not working 100 hours a week)
  • Personal issues
There is always a need, but life always has many pulls on the time and indeed the purse strings... I need a holiday, I need a new (insert whole list of things here). Its never a problem until it is a problem and preventative security (physical, technical and indeed logical) is always a nice to have but one which does not deliver a tangible return and hence is so often overlooked or skinted on.
