I didn't knpw any better. Wanted a van that was 4x4 and there it was. Like a dream she is. One where you wake up sweating as you realised that the vechile that that may save your life has failed the MOT again! Damn it!!

To be fair, a lot of welding some paint and an overdraft extension and she will be awesome!

Long live the Disco!

ps, i'd rather this beauty than a jap pick up anyday! I love the way you can overcook a a corner and it kinda wobbles over, gives it oversteer and kinda drifts its way around a corner. Safe!!

Totally agree. Was at a 'well known tyre replacement centre' the other day, thinking I'd lost a balancing weight from a front wheel (turns out my bearing needs adjusting, hub nut spanner just arrived from Paddock's, just waiting fr the weekend to fix) and as the dude was lowering the jack he said "The best 4x4s are Japanese mate".

I smiled and pointed out my odometer. 160k on the clock and all that's wrong with her is an easily adjustable wheel bearing. She never fails to start, isn't peppered with rust (well, not anywhere important and easily sortable when I do my pre-winter service next month) and I've hardly spent a penny that I wouldn't have spent on any other car this old (cam belt change and usual service parts).

Over the years I've owned some seriously dodgy (and bank account draining) motors, but Big Red isn't one of them.

Maybe I just got lucky though...

Drove a fender hated it, give me leather seats, and high tow ability for my caravan, that ate estates, clutches, brakes and tyres. Nice to listen to classic gold on the radio, and hear it.

No modern digital in mine, just the oridginal the radio/tape no modern clutter, and the open road, some of us live the simple life. (must do I drive a Disco)

1 I like Discoverys
2 I'm a diesel fitter
3 I'm pretty good with me mig welder
points 2 and 3 are very handy if you own a 97 Discovery Ha Ha

Haha :D

Yeah they do, nearly bought tickets, NEARLY.

I still have a pair of tickets from their last tour. Bought them, then they split up, cancelled the show, no refund as they said they'd be valid on the next tour. Nearly 10 years later I dunno where the **** they went :D
