I have a spare wheel on my tailgate, occasionally it has a ride in my boot. Special occasions I have mine in the garage

I have a cover but don't advertise on it. Many with companies use the spare wheel to advertise. Main dealers put their name on them when sold new.

You wouldn't see much. Just a manly, heterosexual, muscular chest. I could bench press a gearbox and send you a photo if that's what you're into? It's baby smooth too. Less drag when I'm going fast in me fender with the windscreen folded down
 
Actually thought I was in the wrong bit of the forum, bit like craigslist!

Thanks for the tip ref delphi lift pump, will keep it in mind for the other engine.
 
My Landy came with the spare on the bonnet and I am not a fan of it. I am almost six feet tall so not an issue with visibility.

I do not like the bonnet mount because of the added weight up front which can affect braking, handling and balance, the damage it causes to the bonnet including scratching the paint too.

I would prefer a swing away carrier with the carrier attached to the door at all times like the Extreme design. I would still be concerned with the force on the upper pivot point of the carrier and how it stresses the metal there.

Ideally it would be great to keep it inside and I am leaning towards that in my station wagon. I would maybe have it upright at the rear left. This way it would also help to offset the weight of the driver by being placed there.

Would be good if it could have fit on the rear underside but maybe won't have clearance.

Agre about the bonnet mounting. Inside is good, so long as the wheel is firmly secured.
Standard springs are already compensated to allow for drivers weight etc.

Sounds good turbo man, I am leaning at putting it inside, will make a good mounting bracket for it. Might then swap out the original bonnet for a fiberglass one.

By the way, you got my name, I used to have a turbo performance shop until a year ago when I moved here. :D would love to build new manifolds for slightly bigger turbos for the 200 and 300tdi. Do you do turbo related stuff?

Not at all, my 90 is the only turbo vehicle Ive ever had in my life. On the back of a 2.5td 90 it says turbo, I guess lr were pleased about progress in those days.
Before I joined lz. I read a few freds, and quickly noticed how many people hated 2.5tds. Which is why I chose Turboman for a user name.:D
There is a big fred about usernames somewhere, it is quite entertaining.

Ahhhh ok. Thought you were the turbo techie for LZ :D , was hoping that you were lol I would like to make up a kit using a bigger turbo on a built up engine. Now that I have a Landy it's easier to start playing, measuring etc. just started finding the compression ratio and some other details so working on that already.

No! I only know old vehicles and indirect injection diesel. I have to tow a trailer a lot with my work, so I got a 90. I would prefer something older really, but I have grown to love it
 
For my spare wheel, I will make an aluminum cradle with holes on the front and back and bolt that onto the body. Drop the wheel into the small half moon cradle and then used a heavy duty ratcheting strap to keep her snug in the cradle.

The strap will be placed around the wheel on the wheel tyre threads. Just brainstormed the location and that jumped to mind.

I need the floor room for my huge model airplanes, ya the Landy will be my aircraft carrier. :D

But if you could fit it on the bonnet on a freelander you would wouldn't you? Not only does it look cool as but it takes the weight off a door you may use quite often. Fender doors, especially the rear, aren't renowned for their strength hence the use of swingaways

I lift the bonnet up more than I open the rear door :(
