cummins engine .... now yer talkin that would be good in yer landrover ... bit big tho ... as it ever bin done ??

40 inches from firewall to radiator long and 30 inches from turbo to injection pump... so no... not vast for a 5.9 litre inline 6

Pic including drivetrain...

Apparently the starting system is a little unusual and needs a lot of battery power... shouldn't be a problem with the size of the battery box on a defender.

I think a V8 diesel out of a one of the new rangrovers would be the best engine for a defender. If i ever build a landrover from the floor up, thats what ill try and get for it.

TD5 coz I'm no Ludite and Electronics and a greener planet is OK by me especialy as you get more BHP, Ft/Lbs and MPG as well. I draw the line at Transit engines....

I think the Storm engine is a work of art.

Thinks TD5 ECU OK, as most finctionality not used in a Defender. But still all there waiting for a wire / a switch :D

Cruise is coming!

300 TDI for me.
The electronics are primitive enough and it's only a bit harder to work on than the 200 TDI

11 votes for the 19j? Surprised it got that many... the one in my first 110 was slow as hell and smoked like a trooper... then blew up on me a few months back.
Did the 200tdi and never looked back. It feels like warp speed in comparison! I actually overtook someone on the motorway the other day, was incredible.

and u could say the same for the good old 12j (2.5NA) she is strong and steady and with due care will probably run forever....

None of the above.

4.0 V8 cos it goes like billyoh and aint too bad in water cos its got coil packs behind the plenum - and an auto box which is ace at everything except going down dead steep hills.
