Some parts for the 200tdi are now made of unobtainium like cylinder heads. The 300 is easier to work on - easier cambelt change for instance. It has a better oil pump and the head is easier to change as the motor is futher forward in the chassis.

LT77 gearbox is a load of rubbish IMHO, but I suppose you can get used to it until it breaks. I prefer a gearbox where you can get 3rd from 2nd occasionally :)

Change yer oil then coz mine changes up and down the box no problems hot or cold and the V8'S used the lt77 coz it was stronger

how about the Peugeot 5.5-litre HDi diesel engine.
Its configuration is a 100° V12. Its output has been revealed to be over 515 kW (700 PS) and 1200 N·m (885 ft·lbf) of torque.

that wud be some motor - yu cud even go fording in it;).

I have had a 2.5n/a in mine since ive had it. It is a bullet proof engine. But it is slow as fook!! If you get used to the speed then its a good engine. Very easy to work on. Even if you are mechnically retarded like me!!

All that said though.... I couldnt get used to the lake of speed so I am dropping a 200tdi in it as we speak!!

and I thought i was an argumentative bastid!!

yu aint even out of nappies when it comes to Grippa - not only can he argue just fur the sake of - and with the best of em - but he is often seen arguing with himself - just fur a bit of competition, you understand?

200tdi all the way would not have anything but a 200 defender so easy to work on nothing to them tweak the pump and the turbo and they are full of life plenty of power

I have towed other landys with my 200Tdi, and i sware it would still make at least 65mph the way it pulls.
