My mate did the same and con rods were so bent he could'nt get them out of the cylinders

It was in a Disco with no snorkel, inner wing missing, and going through a ford at 60 :D

KISS Engineering mate, you can't beat it. The 200/300tdi engine must surely be one of the best (modern) KISS engines ever made.
I said (modern) cos no way am I saying older petrol and diesel Land Rover engines aren't some of the best KISS engines ever made, let's face facts here cos most of the buggers are still running today.

Dont know if it's been mentioned but the best ever was only released in Oz:D The 3.9L isuzu diesel was specified for the army landies and was also sold to the general Aussie pop from around 81-90 with the effect that virtually no 2.5 LR diesels where sold here for almost a decade only 3.9 diesel and the 3.5 v8 county.
I personally own a td5 defender 110 but would have loved to have the spare money to buy a 3.9isuzu county with a turbo. But they are very rare as once a persons got one they almost never let them go.

Having driven one in OZ , didnt move me from my V8 , another "tractor" ps drove a perentie 6x6 as well suited to that but its a very different vehicle to the 110 .

The Je V6 just revealed makes this poll a bit pointless JMHO
