200tdi all day long. I had a 300 and the immobiliser kept playing up finally had to by pass it then it got nicked:mad: Got 200 now snap of steering wheel< battery cut off and after market bullet proof immobiliser, oh yeah and loads of padlocks!:)

Love the V8 in my 110. Loads of power & torque, runs on LPG, so fuel cost are reasonable, and it has not been to difficult to make it fairly waterproof either.

Love the acceptance that utopia doesn't exist

Have given up trying to keep my footwells dry - they're loads better than they were, but dry? Not a chance:D

Lol, I was actually referring to waterproofing the engine. As for the footwells, I have given up trying to keep them dry, and just wear waterproof boots when driving in the wet.

I gotta say i would love to know if anybody has stuck the 5l supercharged rr engine in a defender. Would be insane methinks. Have heard of earlier rr engines in defenders.

No idea, but as TVR Griffiths used a Rover V8 Sepentine, bored out and with an extended piston crank shaft to 5 litres, must theoretically be possible!

Now whether the drive train could put the power down, let alone handle the torque without disintegratring is another matter!

I suppose using all the range rover axles etc must be possible. Strenthened chassis too. Saw a rolled rr for sale advertised cheapish. Just got me wondering.

There are lots of 4.6 v8 in defenders and believe some have put the 5.0 supercharged lump in too but never seen TBH

111bhp + 199lbf torque (something like that anyway)
pretty decent

anyway, read the bloody thread and you won't have to ask inane questions :p

Just for the record, my 200tdi used to make 34mpg on all terrains driven sensibly, now makes 37mpg on much taller muds but still driven sensibly ;) Most we ever got out the TD5 was 32mpg ;)

37mpg? What size tyres give you that sort of economy?

I tinkered with my injection pump & upped the turbo bust on my 200tdi as it was struggling a bit fully loaded with the Disco transfer box. Absolutely fecking goes like stink now :):):):):):)
