Had a look at os maps found sheffield and Barnsley 278.

Does anyone know another good maps to get

look on the back of the map you have. it shows the coverage and map number of ll the OS maps in the scale range

Depends how much detail you want- Landranger 1:50000 or Explorer 1:25000

I will take a look its more of a question of does any one know some good places to go. It will be my first time so something easy to start then will try other ones after

The Landranger ( my opinion, others might differ) are easier to understand. The Explorer maps can show so much detail as to be overpowering.

There are threads on here that explain how to find green lanes, if that's what you are after. In particular, look for PaulD's threads, they're informative. Also keep a lookout for local outings on here.
