It will be a TD6 BMW M57 that ran up to early 2006, which is the one with the weak GM Transmission so i would be looking for vibration under light acceleration up an incline which could be torque converter, lumpy idle pointing towards fuel system fault, heavy acceleration up hill triggering limp mode which could be turbo , air suspension should have lights on the control switch and heights should adjust relatively quickly between access, normal and off road heights, the light will flash and then turn solid when height is achieved, usual checks for oil level and water but they can top that up and as Saint pointed out, just about everything else.

If you excuse my terminology but buying an L322 is like marrying a lady or man of the night, sure, certain things they will be good at but you are going to have to be pretty committed to see the relationship through to even your 5 year anniversary and i would expect a lot of issues along the way:)

I have already done an mot check, the car seems to like tyres, or they cost so much that no one changes them, as the are low (legal limit) on a least 50% of the mots, the passanger door didn't open once and a couple of times there has been an advisory, the the park brake rolls back or something like that

I think I answered that one earlier from my perspective. Any answer given will be subjective. Only you know why you want to own a Range Rover, rather than another 4x4.:rolleyes:

To the first part of that question, as you have done all the research and found certain things repeated time after time, I would say there is your answer.
To the second part extras are again subjective. Get the vehicle you want.
 
If it is a vogue then most of the toys will be on it as in the sat nav screen and heated everything which I never use anything heated in mine. You might have rear entertainment as an extra but not a must as i always drive using the front seat.
If you drive it you will know why you should own one as it is like driving around in a comfy chair with an open fire in front of you, you may even experience a real open fire although that is rare for the diesel and the petrol rarely catches fire.
The main thing that kills the td6 for most people is the transmission and even if it has been changed they don't always refurbish the valve body and they fail again in 10K miles.
Take it on a long test drive with it fully warm, up hills and at slow sedate driving and more aggressive driving, the temp gauge should sit in the middle, if it sits at 10 o clock it could be EGR stat which is about 30 quid and easy to change or the main stat that is more involved, neither are a real worry but a bargaining point.
Long test drive is the key, no vibration noises up a slight incline with a steady throttle and smooth gear changes.
if it is eating tyres it will be suspension arms and bushes front and rear but that should show on MOT
Suspension should adjust easily, the front air springs are a common fail, the compressor in the boot should be running apart from when you adjust the height or coming off a motorway as the suspension should lower after a few minutes at motorway speed which it shows on the orange light on the height control know, the light on its own on the left.
Check for water in the spare wheel well and also the left boot cupboard space where the sat nav is.
whatever you do and check for it will still break, many people join the forum after buying an L322 and then get faults on the drive home, why would you sell a range rover unless you were buying a new one or you are bankrupt

Just asking as if you get issues I am mid-Surrey (near Guildford) and if close could take a gander - but I do have an (almost) 3 week old baby at the mo!

I was thinking more along the lines of....if you buy one and it gets an issue or you need a plugging in of diagnostics - I may be able to help!

I work in Farnborough and Basingstoke is not a billion miles away, so if you get stuck and I am free, then Robert is your mothers brother!
 
Having a good record of service history is a plus - just make sure it continues up to date and hasn't got a gap. Any genuine seller won't mind you looking closely at these documents to get a feel of the kind of faults the vehicle has had.

For what it's worth, I always look at the wheels and bumpers. Kerbed alloys and budget tyres are a no no as is scuffs on the bumper corners - shows carelessness and skimped investment.

What do you class as budget tyres? I know some on here treat tyres a bit like designer goods, only certain brands will do. Personally, I buy mid-range, possibly even lower mid-range. However, no-one could ever say I skimp on her. Every job that ever needs done is done, her services are all up to date(mainly because I can't do the work myself or like many there would be no stamp) , the body work and interior are looked after and she is probably one of the best looked after, for her age, outwith this forum.
I know I mentioned her service history but I am sure I have seen it mentioned on here before that,at the age the OP is looking at, FSH becomes less important than an obviously well maintained vehicle. Got to say I have seen vehicles with FSH that are in sh1t order. The Golden Girl has a book full of stamps but more important is the folder full of receipts for parts and work.
