By the way how are we talking here? The climb is about 15 metres long so I floor it at the bottom and make it up. Is that the same thing as climbing it? I'm not sure if it would pull up from stationary. Anyone know how to upload a video on here?

I like to think I know a fair bit about off roading. I am one of the youngest on here but I'll bet I've got more hours and experience than most people. I do proper off roading on sites most weeks and laning at least once a week. I also take a detour up at least a 50 degree hill through the woods on my way home most nights ;)

Still, I believe that talking is 50% of off roading. I try something new every time I go and if it works then great, I can add it to my repertoire, if not then, you know for next time. Example; don't try and be clever by towing a broken rangie through the deepest mud you can find when there's a perfectly good path along side it or you will end up looking like a tit and have to recover yourself first and then still rescue them :D

I was calling WLM someone who does off road. That's what it was meant to mean anyway if it didn't come across like that. I'm saying he will back me up in the fact they will go up near vertical slopes and what the manual says is a conservative estimate and is more about the oil in the engine than grip. 45% is the maximum sustained operating angle, not the maximum angle it will climb. I don't have a clue where the pics are saved, my mate took them on his phone. If I can't find em I'll just take more since I go up there at least once a week.

:doh::doh::doh:

Yep I've got pics. Landyman, you know for a fact landies do things that aren't in the manual. People who don't off road won't believe what they can do. I often take my mates up it and they never believe it will pull up it but it always does. .
nobody doubting the abilities of a landrover,i often find i run out of bollocks way before the landy gives up..

but as it has been said you know the rules of the forum no pics/video it didnt happen:)..

prove us wrong and you could go to the top of the class:D

As you all may have noticed, I just disappeared for half an hour. That's because I just went and did the hill because I couldn't find proof. I recorded it from my phone on the dashboard. I'm gutted it doesn't look steep until right at the end but anyone who has ever tried to record off roading knows it never looks as bad on camera. Anyway, I'm not one to back out of my word so I'm just going to upload it to youtube unless anyone knows how to put it on here. I'll even leave you the 90's dance music on there ;)

Right here it is [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xq8nnNi4b7s"]YouTube - ‪Defender climbing‬‏[/nomedia] Doesn't look anywhere near as steep as it is in my opinion but feel free to comment. You have to follow the link because the video is private so you can't search it.

Just wondered - 'coz the one in your video appeared to be bright yellow.

Nice wee video BTW. Having recently been on an off-road tuition day, I was amazed how steep the land rover could climb. The instructor chap told me to pick the steepest bit I felt safe with and I went for vertical rockface - straight up, not a long climb, just a few feet, but straight up and she crawled up it on tick-over.

When are you putting the hill video climb on?

That video was of a landy driving over a mole hill:confused::confused::confused:

It's longer than that obviously. You go up one hill then flat then up another. I only put the second hill on.

At 9 seconds its steeper than that. By the way look at the side of my landy, it's been like that a year ;)
