Can't beat maxicross on mud and wet grass In fact theyre banned because theyre so Good at comps
i reckon dumpers in the wet, but maxicross in the dry works best. Dumpers do have issues on sideslopes, but that can be corrected with a chainsaw... :D neither have been banned from our club events...
and 235/85/16 is a pretty good size, not so big you need lifts and beat oiut the arches, but not so small you ground the diff all the time

used to run 265/75 mts and cant say i noticed a rubbing problem in ruts but recently went out on 235/70 road tyres and was pleasantly surprised how well they coped with mud & rocks although a little more ground clearance would have been better.

Have since gone to 285/75 mts and going to get their first proper test this weekend :)

In my opinion if you have an agressive tread pattern like insa special tracks it doesn't matter if the ruts are thinner than your tyres, they just dig their way through!

I'm going to turn my landy into a hover craft... :p then see who get stuck you kunts..:D
Just stick some AT tyres on you'll be fine, Bestest you can afford... getting stuck is half the fun aint it???

Dont bottom out on the difs is the bestest most bestest advise...

ats are for girls:p

I run 285s minimum. I don't want to sink into mud because then you just get stuck on the diffs. I barely drive in ruts, I often drive in the woods. Wider also looks better and gives the car a mean stance. I find it's more stable because of my massive offset rims and wide tyres. I am sick of being told by people that skinny tyres are better off road. I have driven a brand new 110 with 205 bfg mud terrains and it spun the wheels up on clay with traction control when my 285s never slipped even though I have no traction control.

Spoke to my mate who's been off roading for years and he loves the wide tyres.he reckons that all the narrow tyres make a deep rut and the wide ones don't sink so much so you don't bottom out on your diffs.seems a fair point.does depend on driver skills as well

I like to think I know a fair bit about off roading. I am one of the youngest on here but I'll bet I've got more hours and experience than most people. I do proper off roading on sites most weeks and laning at least once a week. I also take a detour up at least a 50 degree hill through the woods on my way home most nights ;)

Still, I believe that talking is 50% of off roading. I try something new every time I go and if it works then great, I can add it to my repertoire, if not then, you know for next time. Example; don't try and be clever by towing a broken rangie through the deepest mud you can find when there's a perfectly good path along side it or you will end up looking like a tit and have to recover yourself first and then still rescue them :D

really? in a fender?
And whats their maxium climb angle?

heres the maximum angle climb in a fender 110 or 90,and you reckon you do 5 degrees more:rulez: are no pics and no proof it didnt happen

Yep I've got pics. Landyman, you know for a fact landies do things that aren't in the manual. People who don't off road won't believe what they can do. I often take my mates up it and they never believe it will pull up it but it always does. I'll find the pics off of my mate who took them on his phone. If not I'll just take some next time I go up.

I was calling WLM someone who does off road. That's what it was meant to mean anyway if it didn't come across like that. I'm saying he will back me up in the fact they will go up near vertical slopes and what the manual says is a conservative estimate and is more about the oil in the engine than grip. 45% is the maximum sustained operating angle, not the maximum angle it will climb. I don't have a clue where the pics are saved, my mate took them on his phone. If I can't find em I'll just take more since I go up there at least once a week.

well he wants proof and pics (as do i) or else he wont believe you(again, as would i).How you gonna prove the angle?

I can't prove the angle but it's steep enough for you to see with your eyes that it's over 45 degrees. It is in a load of trees so just compare the car to the trees.
